Topagae read the message over and over again. To the naked eye it was nothing but a rosy smelling blank piece of paper. But to Topagae, it was a message. This particularly client paid well, and half their fun was watching the employee try and figure out what they were actually supposed to do. As he flipped through differently colored lenses in his goggles he noticed several messages inscribed in fluorescent ink. Not easily fooled by obvious messages with only one lens he fiddled with some of the more unobvious colors until a fairly cryptic message appeared. His client wanted to meet him for dinner? The message was more cryptic then that, but Topagae wasn't one to beat around the bush. Topagae was flattered, but also a little nervous, he had no idea what his client ACTUALLY wanted, the ambiguity of the message left him open to be a bodyguard, or just a gigolo. Not that he cared all that much, he simply mused how armed he should be. Topagae took off his rough work clothes and put on some slightly tight fitting dress clothes. He only had one pair, but luckily, demons don't pay much attention to clothes. To the odd looks of some of the patrons, Topagae walked out of the bar, and into the night wearing two very large guns, and very snappily dressed. Intent on getting to the meeting place for dinner soon. He was hungry, and the timeframe the message gave obviously took Topage for an amatuer. The client thought he'd take too long to solve it, but nonetheless he only had 10 minutes to show up. Demons aren't the patient type, Topagae mused, and broke into a jog.

Aeirn was pacing back and forth thinking about "her" current situation. Aeirn had run off from her home in the Cave of Ordeals again, leaving a note where her roommate would see it when she returned from her hunting excursion. Aeirn decided to think about her next course of action, considering that she was currently in the position of not knowing what to do in order to regain the fragments of the memories that she had lost during her confinement within a crystal which the late Krichevskoy had elaborately constructed to restrain Aeirn's killing intent. Aeirn quickly took out a crumpled piece of paper that contained writing only legible to Aeirn, and recognized it was a note one of her friends in the Cave of Ordeals wrote, inferring about a man which would have some information in a bar regarding Aeirn's previous life before the sealing. Aeirn sighed and was in the midst of following the directions written down. It mentioned that the man would be there all night, so [she] needn't rush and so Aeirn walked down the path she was on. As she neared the purported locale, she heard some footsteps, as if someone was jogging...

Topagae frowns a little at the fact that his pant legs became slightly dusty while jogging to the meeting place. He was chagrined slightly that it was a bar, he was hoping for good free food. All well, at least his employer won't notice the fact he rushed there in the pale light in the bar he mused.
As the meeting place came into view the only other being he saw was a woman, about as tall as he was. Topagae always took stock of those around him; he learned quickly that just about anyone can potentially have enough magic to melt your innards by blinking at you. So he took stock of the lady, walking alone to a seedy bar.
He flipped his lenses to low light vision and saw that she looked unarmed. Topagae became a little worried. Walking alone to a seedy bar unarmed usually meant that you were stupid, or you were powerful enough that nobody was stupid enough to attack you. Both meant worlds of possible trouble for Topagae. She wasn't dressed to impress, but he could respect the practicality of her choice of attire. She had silky pink long hair, that he couldn't help but admire, and it covered her eyes somewhat as she walked and it swayed.
Her eyes.. Topagae flipped to one of his "Special" lenses and became quite instantly shaken. This particular lens made anything magic glow according to the amount of magic of what he was looking at. Most demons glowed a healthy red, angels a radiant blue. Depending on power they could be pretty bright. This girl's her body didn't glow too brightly. But her eyes.. Topagae couldn't look away, it was like looking into a fractal pattern. So beautiful, yet he knew it meant something strange was amiss. He would be wary of this one. He inwardly hoped she'd be going to the same bar he was. A girl with eyes like that is worth buying a drink or two. Of course he also inwardly worried that she would use the eyes to carve a hole through his chest, but Topagae liked to think positive until someone tries to kill him. Sadly, that ruins most days.
As he walked into the bar, he first noticed there was obviously no one in charge of seating others. Nor did he have any information about where in the meeting place his employer would be, or any information to identify them as such. This information is usually vital or required for any employee, but demons are an interesting bunch. Topagae might've been annoyed, but his previous plans were "Sit at a bar and hope something interesting happens." so he couldn't exactly complain too much.
Topagae sat himself and took stock of the room. The bartender was quiet, and obviously not too powerful. He hated that, those types you never know are weaklings or just people who want to be left alone, but could rip you apart with their pinky finger. There weren’t too many patrons, it seems Topagae had entered the bar not long before the bar closed. Not that bars here EVER closed, but there were several hours where you could be quite alone in a bar. There was some prinnies playing cards, a couple of various demons, quite drunk. Topagae wasn't too worried about them.
The lady walked into the bar, and Topagae took off his goggles. They locked eyes and he smiled. Never let them think you're prey. Topagae really hoped this one was nice. Topagae inwardly chuckled, the chances were roughly 342 to 1 of that, considering his record with demons, but hey, not that he was completely sure she was a demon. She certainly didn't dress like one. But coming to this bar, he figured it wasn't too bad of a guess.

When Aeirn stepped into the bar, she caught sight of the guy who she had heard jogging down into the same location. When he smiled, Aeirn faintly smiled back out of politeness. This kid seemed like a nice guy, and Aeirn didn't want to make him afraid of 'her' for whatever reason, but it seemed that within his goggles, he had become weary of the horrors that her eyes held. Aeirn looked around the bar and saw a lone demon sitting at a table, who, when she saw Aeirn, nodded in a manner that only Aeirn was familiar with. Aeirn shrugged and went to the table. "I suppose you're the person who has the information I seek," Aeirn said. The demon nodded. "That's right." Aeirn and the demon started to talk, their voices were quite soft and were audible to themselves, but inaudible to anyone else. After about half an hour, the demon had said "...And that's all I can tell you. I hope I was of some assistance, Carnelian of 60000 Years." and immediately left, even before Aeirn could thank him and ask why the demon called her that. And what's more, the demon said it loud enough for almost everyone to hear. So, they were going to be suspicious of her origins. Aeirn sighed, stood up, and took note of the guy who had smiled at her.
Perhaps I could make friendly conversation or something... After all, I'm free for the rest of the night. Aeirn thought as he approached the guy with the goggles and sat next to him.

Topagae sipped his drink. Which most demons would consider unusual, they seemed to have a knack for downing gallons of liquor, something to do with being made of fire anyway or some such nonsense. The bar cleared out slowly, but most left with a hasty look towards a particularly uninteresting looking demon sitting alone at a table that was chatting up the strange woman who walked in moments earlier.
They began talking. Topagae knew they were talking because their facial muscles were twitching and it was quite obvious they didn't want to be heard. Did his employer want information on this woman? His employer probably already knew what her eyes could do, but it was obvious she was looking for something. What? You don't go into a seedy bar with a dangerous looking demon to talk about the weather, that's for sure.
Technology, he loved it, demons take and conquer, they rarely understand how things work, not that they couldn't, but most don't bother since they could make most things work with magic, or just force someone to do it for them.
Topagae twisted his hands around his drink, looking as if adjusting his grip on his mug, but in reality he used it to switch between modes in his goggles and to activate various gadgets.
This one was a sound amplifier, a little directional antennae and a tiny bit of current and suddenly Topagae could hear like a safecracker.
Static. How typical, magic or malfunction? Could be either, or both, Topagae supposed but he could still pick a few things up. Everything he picked up didn't make sense. Names of people he didn't know, places he never heard of, events he had no idea had taken place. Topagae stored them away for future use. Demons often paid by the fact, so everything was of potential value. Of course he still had no idea what his job WAS, but he decided to cover all his bases anyway.
Carnelian of 60000 Years?! Topagae was taken aback by this. This was the only thing the mysterious demon talking to the woman said loudly. Did he want this woman torn apart? Or did he want everyone in earshot to be scared of her? Did he know Topagae was listening, and was signaling that he was his employer? Or did he just want to scare Topagae and make sure to note that he wasn't leaving this place alive. He wasn't so sure, but he had no idea what a Carnelian was, but he knew the older a demon, the stronger they are. And he'd never heard of a demon 60000 years old.
The mysterious demon left quickly, without trying to kill Topagae. Always a good sign in his book. The woman turned and took a seat next to Topagae, luckily during the outburst Topagae decided to turn his gear off, and the lady walked up non-threateningly.
60000 years old eh? Most humans have a policy on age with dating, but in the Netherworld age and time are a little strange. Topagae looked in his mid twenties, and had been around for about 4 years. He did not visibly age in that time. But 60000 years old? This woman looked younger then him, how strange.
Topagae wasn't too sure this woman wasn't going to jam a large weapon in his gut the instant she wanted to when she sat down, but after he saw her eyes, he knew there wasn't much he could do if she wanted him dead anyway, so he smiled back when she sat down.
Employer? Somebody he was supposed to get information from? Somebody who wanted to maim, mutilate, or rip out his soul? Or maybe she just wanted a drink with him. Topagae really hoped for the last one.
She smiled and Topagae ordered another drink, to no one in particular, they seemed to be the only patrons in the bar anyway.
"It's always good to have company lady, might I ask your name?"
Topagae inquired, with a nice smile. She certainly was pretty, but she looked a bit tortured, even without the eyes. But then again, who here wasn't?

Within Aeirn's mind, she seemed slightly taken aback that she had led everyone, or more like deceive everyone on her gender - after all, it WOULD be rather strange if they knew she was actually... Well, in any case, this man had started a conversation. Aeirn could immediately tell that his smile was there in order to hide his suspicions, and that he was thinking of many different possibilities - the worst one being that she would kill him, but that's something Aeirn didn't want to do. After all, he seemed like a nice guy who would be a good friend anyway. At least, that's what Aeirn wanted to think, anyway. The demon she had conversed with looked rather shady, but it was then revealed that he was also a resident of the Cave of Ordeals, much like herself. In any case, the guy had decided to strike something up. Aeirn responded with a kind (albeit slightly reluctant) "The name's Aeirn. Aeirn Sierra," and nodded humbly. "Might I ask the same of you?" but one part of Aeirn's heart wanted to say that there's no need to worry, no one's going to kill you and another part wanted her to explain the story behind the killing intent borne unto her eyes.

"The names Topagae, Aeirn(Topagae probably butchered the pronunciation), wanderer and scout. I thought I was here for a job, but it seems that I went down another dead end, but at least I got some company eh? What brings you here? Surely you don't think I can help you with whatever you need, I'm just a drifting amnesic. It seems a lot of people down here are."
Topagae ordered more drinks. He knew this girl was swallowing words. Such a human reacton, how could a 60000 year old demon be yearning to tell HIM anything? On the plus side. It probably meant she wasn't going to kill him. Sweet.

Aeirn could tell that this Topagae character wasn't all he showed himself to be, there was more to him than that. Trying to be humble all the time isn't necessarily a good thing, but in Aeirn's book, that was better than being a cocky, insensitive brat who could care less about the world. Aeirn fixed her hair slightly, but her visible eye was slightly twitchy. Oh no. Aeirn said. "Excuse me a moment," Aeirn said softly as she turned her gaze to the floor, then saw a small insectoid critter who writhed in pain for some time before dying. Aeirn's eyes calmed down and she faced Topagae again. "I'm sorry for what just happened... it's just, my eyes tend to get the best of me. I don't mean to scare you, and I'm not intending on killing you, if that's the impression you get..." Aeirn said in an apologetic, almost sympathetic manner as she bowed her head in politeness.
"In any case, I came here to receive some information that I need regarding myself... Myself, as in, my memories... They have been fragmented and as such I must find the answers and put together the puzzle..." Aeirn said. "You seemed to be the most decent person here, so I just also decided to drown my metaphorical sorrows next to someone who'd hopefully be able to empathize. Or syampthize."

Topagae let out a hearty laugh. How could he not? Here stood a demon that can kill things by looking at them. But she doesn't. That's got to be one in a billion.
Topagae made a brief mental note that she obviously can't fully control these powers, but still, any slightly ruthless demon would be wiping out competitors in droves with such a power. It must have its limits.
And then she apologized and bowed her head? Topagae briefly mused that this "Demon" might be an angel who can't remember who she is, but somehow he doubted any angel would have eyes like that. Either way, she acted in a very non-demonic fashion.
Memories? Things were getting interesting. Did his client send this woman to her because he might be able to provide insight into her problem, or provide clues? It made more sense then anything else, since he himself had lost his memories and seems to have more clues then this woman in that department.
"Let me ask you some things. Why do you want your memories? I can relate, I remember nothing before waking up being surrounded by demons who wanted to devour me whole some years back. Yet, I do not seek my old memories. I woke up in HELL, do I really want my memories back? Do you? Would they make you happy? If you're happy now, how do you know they won't make you unhappy? Why can't you be content with what you have? If you can answer those questions, I'd be happy to help you, or if nothing else. I'm always here to listen. I tend to make a living of it.

Aeirn looked at Topagae. Can I really trust this person? Can I confide in him? Aeirn thought to himself herself. Aeirn had no choice. Perhaps he could help her or even make an attempt to understand her situation, as this Topagae so claims to do... In any case, from his speech, he seemed to be a human. Perhaps he did not want to seek his memories because they were terrible. But for Aeirn, her memories were all that she wanted, or she would eventually lose her purpose. But, for Topagae to believe him her, would be much challenge and perhaps be futile in the end. Aeirn had no choice but to explain, or she might lose yet another torchlight along the path.
"...Alright, but it's a long story," Aeirn said, and she nodded and breathed deeply once. ...Here goes. "Several thousand years ago, I was sealed within a crystal that would serve to limit the power that my eyes held, presumably by the late Krichevskoy... But, in actuality, I had existed only thousands of years after the creation of this Netherworld...or Hell, as you might call it..." Aeirn said. She looked at the door, and then looked at Topagae again. "I had a purpose in my previous life. I had sworn fealty to the person who had raised me all these tens of thousands of years in which I lived, swearing to keep my family line and blood after reading a letter someone sent me explaining why I had not been able to see my parents..." Aeirn explained, before continuing on.
"Back then, I was able to control this ability. Indeed, I was to kill whoever I pleased... and I lived a life of bliss... until around 45000 years later when Krichevskoy came into existence. At his peak, he had taken notice of my foster 'parent' of sorts, and decided to get rid of him. I stood in his way," Aeirn explained, and he she was on the verge of tearing up. "And then he was afraid, afraid to die, so... He got rid of me first. He sealed me in those horrid prisons... as with my foster 'parent.' I never saw him again, even after I was unsealed by an old friend..."
"I now live in the Cave of Ordeals, trying to find out an answer... Is that enough for you? I believe in you to find the answers to your own questions in what I have just said."
