There's a big campaign to promote the movie Twilight, and I noticed something about the way the 'pires all look. Why do these creatures of the night all look like a bunch of metrosexuals? To depict them as overtly sexual is nothing new, but wouldn't it make sense for there to be at least a handful of macho vampires? At least one or two that are more bestial, they lurk in caves and come out to feed like any other predator.
I admit that I've never gotten that deep into the goth or vampire communities, actually I've had nothing to do with them (hence my ignorance). Still, I feel like the mythology has been pidgeon-holed into something really lame, and I can't understand why.

I miss the good old vampires. You know, the ones that stalked through the night, preyed upon those unlucky enough to cross their path, and had class. Seriously, What the hell Hollywood? You've turned the hunters of the night, the kings and queens of darkness...into, into....17 year old's, with emotional issues! You'd think after a couple hundred years they'd either snap (awesome) or get over it (more awesome).
It's just...I don't know. I miss dracula, and what he brought. The last good vampire was from van hellsing the movie (excluding any anime vampires, mind you), and it just irritates me.

No kidding, I recall the vampire from Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust. Yeah the guy had a soft side, but he also had an air of aristocracy and could throw down to boot. While the change into a vampire could be a tramatic experience, especially if personally killing was a new thing to a fledgling vampire, with enough time they should adjust to it one way or the other. The adjustment may cause some personality changes, but I think the core identity would remain the same (and I can't believe that before they turned every human was a little bitch). The Blade films and TV series at least balanced out the personality types, even if they may have gotten lazy with a few characters. Granted, ONE emo vampire could be funny: He cuts himself, feeds on the blood, wound closes, "Damn", repeat

^ Lulz.
Honestly, emo issues isn't something I'm very fond of, especially in a vamp. I prefer the dark, mysterious and downright handsome vamps that are to die for... really... if you're not watching your back enough.
And I agree with Boogie, the personality change is traumitizing. Heck, there maybe even a few vamps out there who don't want humans to go through the things they've been through. In fact, there maybe some bare few vamps who would protect humans.. who knows?
And if I learned anything from the time I've spent roleplaying with Sinister/Overlord, vampires can also sweep a girl (or guy) off her feet. Whether they'll bite or not, turn or not, though, can vary... How lucky you are can also vary, if you really want to be a vamp or not.

If you watch the movie 30 Days of Night, every single vampire in that movie is insanely hideous. ;_; I prefer sexy ones. ;]

Nothing wrong with hot vampires, don't get me wrong. But there are different kinds of hot. I'm talking about metro-quasi-gaypires. I don't think going through a whole can of hair spray is exactly alluring. Maybe it's that the hair style of the main guy reminds me of really bad DBZ cosplayers

REAL sexy vamps do not need literal cans of hairspray OR sparkly skin.
Thank you.

I despise those "sparkle bright" vampires. Twilight is not only a horrid book (in my opinion, it is extremely cliche` and overdone), but also has its vampire mythos all over the place. I understand trying to make your vampires different from the mainstream vampire, but, this was horrid.
The Count is much cooler than Edward, or even Lestat, for that matter.
I miss good old Nosferatu and Dracula, back when vampires could kill you and were scary.
