Chapter 9
Planning
Zekeial grunted, looking away.
“We need to go north. We’ve another city there, within a three day walking distance.” He mumbled to them, tail twitching in annoyance. “We can rest there until we figure out what to do next…I don’t think any dragoon likes Akamain.”
“Yeah, but isn’t that city in the far north?” Nina asked, blinking lightly. She shivered lightly. “Stupid cold.”
“Yeah, I second you there.” Anna nodded. Neither of the winged creatures liked the cold. “But at least you ha-“
“Aht!” Nina cut Anna off with a sharp sound. Xaiver looked to Nina at that noise.
“No ones going to care. Kai’s a criminal.”
“Heey.” She whimpered.
“Mia’s new to the world, and I don’t know about those two.”
“I’m just a kitsune, and Kalia is a fairy, why should we care?” Zinri shrugged.
“Still, I really don’t want to tell them. I mean, Kai here, you said it yourself, she’s a criminal.”
“I’m right here you know.” Kai grumbled, crossing her arms. So she had stolen a few things, didn’t mean they could brand her like that.
“I don’t even know anything about these two..they could hate..well..you know, and if she’s new to this world, who knows what her world thinks.” Xavier nodded, and Anna silenced.
“Regardless, I feel we should leave now before Xavier and his friends here are hurt.” Zeke spoke up, looking north “But the girls are right. I’m not looking foreward to this. The northern city was built for thick furred Beastia and dragoons. It might be hard for us to survive.”
“So we’ll die?” Kai asked, she may have had fur, but it wasn’t thick enough to survive the far north.
“No. It’s near the border of those unclaimed territories, but close enough you should be able to live.” Xavier told her. “We dragoons use our inner flame to keep alive in the extreme colds, and can withstand extreme heat. Hell, we bathe in boiling waters.” He shrugged.
“Enough chatter, can we go now?”
Zinri spoke up “Umm. Yeah, the girls supposed to survive? I mean, Kai and Zekeial and I at least has a little fur and you’re a dragoon. The three of them have no protection.”
Zekeial shrugged “Bundle up.”
Mia grumbled, Xavier nodded.
“We’ll stop by the nearby human town. They have plenty of cold weather cloaths for the northern barrens.” Mia sighed begrudgingly, she didn’t enjoy the cold either.
“Awwwww.” Kalia whimpered. “Do we have tooo?”
“Why do we have to go north? Why not just take a little longer and go to another town? One that’s not frigid.”
“Because, we want to beat anyone who’d tell that I’m not the prince…I wager Akamain put a bounty on my head, not for my death, but my capture. I don’t think he has any messegers who could get there that fast. All we can do is hope for a blizzard.”
“Hope for a blizzard!?” Mia exclaimed.
“Why would we want to hope for a blizzard?” Nina follwed her question. “It’s cold enough without one.”
“Because nothing can fly in a blizzard. So if we go now, and a blizzard does hit, we’ll beat any messenger.” Xavier told them, turning northbound himself. “So northbound it is. To the frozen barrens and to Frezion!”
