That's right, everyone's dead There are no gimmicks here, and I did in fact kill off every significant protagonist in the story... But this story runs deeper than it appears...
and actually, there's two more chapters including this one. How you may ask? Well that idea is still in my head

Chapter XIII: Redemption
Darkness. That's all that existed on the research station. Not a single thing could survive.
Yet somehow...
'This is it... I'm dead... I can't breath... I can't see... All I wanted to do was... help... But now because of me... nothing will change... Jack is dead... Melissa is dead... Iie is probably going to be killed by that freak... Everyone is dead... because I wanted to save Iie...'
A flash of light hit her eye 'What?' the big room appeared in Alex's mind. The stained glass was unbroken. Zelan stood with the sword in Iie's stomach and a gun aimed at Alex. Everything was frozen in place, a photo of the end of her life. The bullet was mere inches from her face. 'What's going on?'
There was total silence, then a child's voice "Not yet."
Alex watched as the bullet moved toward her at full force, but at the very last moment, ricocheted out of midair and jammed itself into her shoulder, knocking her back full force. She tried to scream, but something wouldn't let her. She couldn't speak, she couldn't move, she couldn't even breath, but somehow... she was alive.
"No!" Iie screamed "Doctor!... You... you killed her! You b******! You killed the doctor!"
'I'm alive. How am I alive? I was... no, don't think about it. Iie's in trouble. He needs help. But I... can't do anything... Gotta try...' she tried to struggle, but some invisible force kept her down. She sat completely still through the entire fight between Iie and Zelan. She heard the shots fired. She felt a great weight lift off of her. 'I am alive, right?' She shifted her arm 'I can move.' she pushed herself to sitting. She heard Iie's frustrated shout and looked around the corner just as Iie tore out his own circuitry.
"Iie!" she choked on her words. She felt extremely weak. She had been bleeding freely from her shoulder since she was hit and it wasn't going to stop by itself. She climbed to her feet using the wall as a crutch and put pressure on the wound with her free hand. "Iie." she muttered out.
Her coat was drenched in blood, so she started to take it off. She felt something in her pocket. She pulled out the thin jewel case with the numbers on the label "Melissa's CD..."
She neatly wrapped her wound with the remainder of her lab coat and stumbled to the center of the room. She struggled to lift Iie's body into her arms, light as he was, but she managed. She could feel herself fading away. Her head was foggy and she couldn't walk straight. She carried Iie through the halls of the station, praying that The Destiny had somehow realized they needed to be picked up.
She opened the door to the hangar and fell to the floor, exhausted. "C'mon... just a little further... I have to... for Iie." she pushed herself up, but she was too weak to carry Iie any further. She tripped her way to the hangar doors and looked out into the distance. Even with her eyes starting to fail, she could tell The Destiny was gone.
"F***!" she tried to yell out "You a******!... The time... we really need you." she turned around to rest against the glass. Her eyes traveled to the upstairs control room, to the monitor.
She practically had to climb the railing of the metal stairs to make her way up, the only thing keeping her going was the curiosity of what Melissa wanted her to see.
She dropped down onto the office chair in front of the monitor and savored the instant relief of getting off her legs. She placed the disk into the drive on the monitor's console. A security recording of the secret place they had hung out at on The Destiny showed on screen. "What's this?" she noted the time in the corner of the screen. She ejected the CD and looked at the label, showing time for late just last night. She pushed it back into the console and fast-forwarded to the time.
The camera moved around a little "Does that mean this thing's recordin'? Alright..." the camera came to a rest on top of one of the crates and Melissa walked out from behind it "Hey Al." she sounded solemn "You know... if you're watchin' this, I'm prolly already dead. If not then, please shut this thing down and return it to- ugh, you know what? I don't care, you gotta know this stuff anyway." she took a full three minutes of open video not speaking, and Alex almost drifted off before she said "This is about Iie... You see... I lied to you. I lied to you, Jack, Iie, every single member of those two ships... You see... I knew who Iie was before I even came on The Miracle. I knew what he was too, that's why I repaired him so easy. In fact... I made Iie. I made him in the very research station that we're going to tomorrow... I was going to retrieve him after I found I could track him again, but... he was just like a little kid, emotions and everything, I couldn't just take him from you. It's strange, he was built to be a completely unfeeling weapon... But he wasn't. I can't explain why he is the way he is, and I don't think even the greatest minds of our time could tell you. I guess something must've happened to him after the transport ship he was on crashed, but I just don't know what could've happened... After I completed Iie, the others tried to improve on it... Zelan was created. Yes, he's an android too. He was built specifically to have free, conscious thought and even limited emotions. That backfired on us, as you can tell. I just wanted to let you know, Al... you're like that kid's mother... Goodbye Al, the last few months were a blast." Melissa walked toward the camera and picked it up, aiming it at her face "Oh, and if all else fails, remember The Orion." she smiled and the video cut off.
"Orion..." Alex repeated, still focusing on the video. It took a minute for it to sink in, but it came to her eventually. "Orion... Zelan's ship! Zelan had a ship with an auto-pilot!" she pressed buttons on the console until she found the security cameras. The Orion was just in the next hangar over. "Yes! We're saved!" she stood up and nearly collapsed to the floor, supporting herself with her one good arm. "Just a little bit longer..." she pushed the door open with her shoulder and tripped her way down the steps. She couldn't possibly support Iie the way she was, she would have to drag him. She opened the door between hangar, holding Iie's arm. She dragged him up the loading ramp and closed it up "C'mon... just gotta... launch... gotta..." the room spun wildly and she dropped to the floor "...save... Iie..." she finally succumbed to her blood loss.
"That's enough." the child's voice echoed through Alex's head "You did good."
The engines of The Orion roared to a start, and as the doors opened, the ship launched out at full speed. The engines cut immediately after that, and The Orion drifted silently away from the abandoned facility, flashing a distress beacon in the back.

Okay, what the hell just happened? Well, you'll see ^^ ... eventually...
