Well, I slept in again and my mom freaked, so I don't know how long it'll be till I get back. So, instead of spoon feeding you these chapters one by one, I'm just gonna give you like 15 of them. Hope that lasts ya.
Chapter Two
Mia
Midnight. Xavier began to close his eyes, drifting off to sleep, when a large explosion yanked him from sleep. He rose, looking to the window. Smoke rose from the forest, pluming as black as the night itself in front of the red moon. Xavier cursed, wishing he had brought his armor, grabbed his sword, and jumped out of the window. Letting his wings catch himself, gliding down to the earth, running towards the point of the sound. He curled his wings towards his body, crouching down and bolting. He readied himself as he dug his back and left claws into the ground, grinding to a stop, he’d never seen a hellspawn summoning like this before. Xavier looked down into the hole, keeping quiet, as he jumped down into the hole. He saw a young woman lying in the hole. A human, he sheathed his sword and jumped down to her side.
“You all right!?”
She rolled over onto her side, hearing his voice and waking up. She opened her eyes. Her hair was dark red, with a mix of brown, falling down to her lower back, her eyes blue. Her skin was normally tan, except for a bikini tan line, which was clearly visible on her naked skin. Seeing the dragoon she screamed, a loud thwack rang out, being heard even at the manor. Soon he was walking back towards the manor, a red mark engulfing the right side of his face, in the shape of a hand. rowling and grumbling, Xavier stormed towards the manor, the girl, now tied up, walking behind him.
“You don’t have to tie me up, you know!” She shouted at him, although grateful that the man had given her a large piece of cloth. Probably a cloak
“Yeah, and you didn’t have to hit me. So we’re even. I’m taking you back to the Elf manor.”
“Elf?” She looked surprised.
“Yes, Elf, you know, pointy ears, otherwise human. I don’t know how else to explain them.”
“What are you talking about!? Elves don’t exist! And what are you supposed to be?”
“I’m a Dragoon.” He noted the blank look on her face and sighed. “Hybrids of you humans and Dragons.”
“But dragons don’t exist! They’re made up and so are you! So let me go!”
“Gods you’re annoying.” The two walked in silence after that for a few moments.
“So what’s your name?” the woman asked.
“What?”
“Your name? I’m Miatsu Tomani, but everyone calls me Mia.” She looked at the man.
“Why are you asking? It doesn’t matter,” he growled. So her name is Mia? he thought.
“Come on. Tell me your name,” she whined, running closer to his side. “Please? I’m sorry for hitting you.” She looked sincere, her eyes glimmering lightly as she faced the ground, still keeping her eyes on him.
Xavier looked away “I am Prince Xavier Veln. You happy?”
“Xavier? What a dumb name.” She laughed lightly, stopping when he glared at her. “F- For a prince I mean.”
“What do you mean by that?” he growled.
“No-nothing.” She looked away “So, where am I?”
“Wyvern forest. It stretches from here to Dragoniss and is named for the creations of the Dragons. But of course since Dragons don’t exist, Wyverns must not either.”
At that point, a Wyvern landed near Xavier. Its head was dragon-like, with a big thick neck, coming down to broad shoulders. The creature’s body was only as big as its shoulders, giving it a block appearance. It stood on two legs, and from its shoulders sprouted a single wing on each side. A tail sprouted from above its legs. Its scales were blue and its underbelly tan.
“Hellspawn?” it asked, cocking its head near the girl.
Mia shuddered, but couldn’t do anything more. The creature’s teeth looked to Mia as long as kitchen knifes, and probably sharper.
“No, Wyrin, she’s a normal Human, at least as far as I can tell.”
“She not smell Human.” He growled head nearing Mia’s, taking her scent. “Smell different.”
“Yes, I know. Her scent is off, but I haven’t found any reason to suspect a hell circle. Besides, you saw the explosion. Hell circles don’t work like that.”
“Yes. Saw big flash! Heard boom too!” He seemed excitable, shifting from one foot to the other. “Not smell anyone though. Who use magic if not magic man?”
“I don’t know, but she’s harmless. Merely an average Human. Pretty ugly, too,” he grumbled. Xavier wasn’t normally this mean, but he was still upset.
“What?” Mia shouted, indignant at what she had just heard.
“She smell pretty, look pretty too, but I not know you standards,” Wyrin said, referring to every species not Wyvern.
“Right, Wyrin, so we see her differently. To me, she’s about as pretty as a bunch rocks with a carcass on it.”
“Why you - you jerk!” She slammed her forehead into his nose and began to strom off, but forgot that she was tied up. Annoyed, Xavier jerked the rope in his hand and pulled the woman off her feet. She tried to stand, but blushed, still angry, and stopped struggling before any hint of emotion showed.
“She mean.” The draconic creature looked to the Dragoon prince.
“No.. She’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever met. Her kindness is only outclassed by the amount of green in this forest,” he growled, sarcasm dripping off every word.
“But she just nail you in face! With head! If that not mean I not know what is.”
“I was being sarcastic, you overgrown lizard.” He looked at the Wyverns confused expression, before going and helping the girl up.
“Ugly, am I!?”
“Painfully, now can we move on? I’d like to get back to the Elf city before sun up
“I take you! Or her so she not hit you again,” the winged creature volunteered, shifting his feet once again.
“Yeah, take her to the Elf manor. Leave her tied up near the wall, make SURE she doesn’t die, or it’s your hide.” Mia looked up at the man after he said this
Why does he care? she thought.
He nodded gripping the rope in his mouth.
“Oh! Master Shi’nen want you to know that She’nen clutch hatching soon. He say next tomorrow likely hatch. He want you be there.” Wyrin bounced lightly, closing his eyes in excitement. Instincts told the Wyvern what was going on. A brood of new young.
“They want me to be there? During a hatching?” He seemed astonished. To be invited to witness Dragon young hatching was one of the biggest honors of any of the races. Mia looked confused. She was lost in all of this
“’Very important’ he say! ‘Make sure he hear!;’ he say. ‘This very im…imp…imper-I-teeve. Make sure he hear!’ he say!” The little beast shifted feet yet again, back and forth. He was obviously excited about doing a good job for his master.
“Thank you, Wyrin. Go tell your master I’d be ecstatic to join, and I’m eternally grateful they are allowing me to come.”
“Esmanic? Epedional?” He looked very confused, like he had overloaded his mind. Mia was actually waiting for smoke to come out of his ears. Xavier smiled, laughing to himself, shaking his head.
“Tell him I’d be happy to, and thank you very much. But, take the girl back to the Elf lands first. Understand?”
Wyrin nodded again placing the rope in his mouth gently, taking wing and flying towards the castle. Mia screamed.
“No! Let me ride on your back! I don’t want to fly like this! I’m gonna fall!” She screeched, twirling around in mid-air.
Xavier shook his head, and went back to the crater, looking for any clue of where Mia had come from. He picked up a towel, reading the words on it.
“Welcome to Odenaga springs?” He shrugged, spying a small bag, made of an odd material. He picked it up and opened it, clothing. He put the towel in it and headed back towards the manor.
Meanwhile, Mia had not stopped screaming, still freaked out about hanging over nothing. Wyrin had had enough, pushing his teeth through the rope to hold it, he began to voice this.
“Stop shouting! It hurt ears!”
“Well, then put me down!”
“I put you down from here in second,” he growled.
“Stop talking! You’ll drop me!”
“I only wish.” He mumbled. Aloud he said, “I not drop annoying Human.”
“My name’s Mia! Not ‘annoying Human.’ Get it right!”
“I not care! You annoying, you Human. You annoying Human!” He growled.
Eventually, Xavier arrived at the manor, and dropped the girl into a heap on the step.
“That thing is so rude!”
“He’s a Wyvern, they’re not very smart. They’re made from Dragon scales and blood.”
She stayed silent until he pulled her up, took the rope, and lead her to the castle.
“N-no! I’m not going anywhere when I’m naked!”
“I’m taking you to the bathing rooms so you can get dressed! I found this bag out there and it has clothes in it.”
“You are?”
“Yes. I can’t stand the sight of you naked; makes me gag.”
“Shut up you jerk!” She stopped in place, but the man continued, dragging her along with him instead. “No! I’m not going!” She pushed her feet against the dirt. “I don’t want to!” She suddenly stopped, Xavier’s arm yanking backwards pulling him to the ground with a thump. “How did I?”
“Ugh.. Gravity magic. I hate gravity magic
“Magic? I did magic? Me? Miatsu Tomani?”
“Yeah, that’s why you got so heavy.”
“But magic isn’t real!”
“Neither are Dragons or Wyverns, right?”
“I - I thought.”
“I don’t know where you come from, but you’re in Sindria now.” Xavier looked at her, yawning lightly.
“Sindria? No, I live on EarthI’ve never heard of Sindria.”
“Well I’ve never heard of Earth, so let’s go.” He tried to pull again, ending up with rope burns on his hands and on his back. “Dispel that damn weigh down spell!” Like Xavier said, he couldn’t stand gravity spells.
“I’m not doing anything!”
“Don’t lie to me! You’re using a weigh down spell! Stop!”
She blinked in confusion, then blinked again as if this would clear everything up, wishing she knew what was going on.
Xavier reached the rope and tugged it. Feeling her move, he stood and led her in the castle “Playing dumb? So I do-Whoa!” He crashed into the ground again, her weight having increased nearly ten-fold.
“Dammed, woman! Stop using that spell!”
Mia giggled, now knowing how to use at least a little magic. Apparently, when she combined her will to stay there, along with a visualization of it, the magic worked.
“Okay. Okay. I’ll stop.”
He growled, beginning to drag her along when she weighed herself down yet again, making him fall to the ground again, which made Mia burst out in hysterical laughter.
“You’re going to run out of Arcane eventually.”
“Arcane?” Mia asked, regaining her ability to breathe.
“It’s a term we use to gauge magic. Spells suck up Arcane, so the more spells you use, the less Arcane you have.”
“There’s a limit?” She frowned.
“Yes, now come.” He took the rope again, pulled her along to the bathing hall, cut the rope, and shoved her into a room. Xavier threw the bag after her. Shutting the slide, he sighed. He didn’t intend to be so rough with her, but he was tired and agitated. Morning would come very soon, so he simply sat near the door to the bathing room and fell asleep. Mia stuck her toe in the water, shivering at the chill before sinking in. She sighed, wishing it was warmer, then finding her self surprised when the water did as she wanted, warming to a hot spring like temperature. She sighed again, peacefully this time.
Maybe this is a dream. Maybe I’ll close my eyes and wake up back home, relaxing in the bath, or in the springs where I fell asleep. She closed her eyes I sure hope it’s a dream. And with that she fell asleep.
Meanwhile, on a trail a few thousand miles away from the Elf village, a Dog Beastia merchant walked towards the next village. His ears were pointed and black, resting atop his head. His body was covered in golden brownish fur, and his feet were replaced by dog paws. He held two wooden posts, one under each arm, each attached to the wagon which contained his wares, and doubled as his living quarters. As he walked towards the next village, his nose twitched, smelling something from the woods. He shifted his arm, gripping his sword tightly, trying to not be obvious about this. After a few minutes he relaxed his grip, not hearing or smelling anything. He sighed, looking forward, and squinting, seeing a bump on the horizon. As he approached it, his eyes made out what it was. A Cat Beastia and a woman. He ran towards her, wounds crisscrossing her body, blood oozing from the cuts. He left his wagon, running to her and falling to her side.
“Ma’am?” He shook her lightly, and he felt cold and lifeless, blood staining his hand as he pulled it closer. There was no scent. He suddenly realized what was going on, snarling at being a fool, and running back to his wagon. Inside, a fox like creature was looting the wagon, stuffing the rare stuff he owned into a bag, a fairy floating next to him, her hands glowing light blue.
“Hurry, Zinri, I can’t keep it up much longer.”
“It’s all right, Kalia, we’ve got plenty of time,” the fox replied, his twin tails lazily drifting about. He was deep red color, almost maroon, a black ring around the end of each tail, about two inches from the tip, and white from then up. His ears were a little different, only tipped off with black. His hair itself was a very light silver, almost platinum. He was like the Beastia outside, his feet being fox-like and having head to toe in fur. He wore a white tank top, cloth pants up around his legs and waist. He was about the same build as Xavier; just a little more muscled, especially in the legs and arms. The young man was a lot leaner too, no weight on his body wasted. His fairy friend had long light green hair. She wore cotton clothes, one puff of cotton was able to cloth half her village for a while. Her clothes were loose, and dyed her favorite color, purple. He grumbled, now producing a picklock and working on a chest in the corner of the wagon, near the owner’s bed. The door flung open, the Beastia’s teeth bared, snarling at the Kitsune. He pulled his sword and pointed to the two tailed fox.
“You wretched thief,” he snarled, jumping at the Kitsune, slashing at him. The Kitsune yelped, dodging out of the way just in time.
“I have a friggen name,” he shouted as he dodged, then dashed out the door to slam it. He kept his hand on it. The door clicked, locking with an invisible lock, and he ran off. The Beastia kicked the door, trying to unlock the door with his key, failing. The fairy and her Kitsune friend ran from the site, bringing the bag of stuff along with them. They stopped after a bit of running towards the village, laughing to themselves.
“Did you see his face?”
“Forget that. You should have seen YOUR face when he walked in!” The small creature laughed, imitating a comical surprised face.
“I love our job. Being a thief is the best.”
“Great pay, be your own boss, great hours…”
“And the people you meet!” They both laughed, sitting to rest.
“Where to next?” Zinri looked up to his floating fairy friend.
Kali looked back.
“Not to the village, that’s for sure,” she said. “That’s where that Beastia was going.”
“Right. Hmm. The Dragoons are a fairly wealthy nation. Let’s head there,” he suggested, standing up and stretching. “But I suggest I go as a normal fox, don’t want any wanted posters after us.”
“They why not go as a bird? Beat the messenger there so we can enjoy our wealth for awhile before going back into hiding for a few months in that pocket dimension of yours. I hate those little fools you call people. Blasted fake Humans.” She grumbled.
“Oh, just because they think you’re a talking fly? Besides, I told them that.”
“You what?” she growled as he laughed, turning into a bird and taking wing, Kali chasing him as they headed towards Dragoniss.
