The Broken Heart
By Branden Jimenez
Together we were one, a whole that could never be broken. Our hearts were one, a piece that could never be shattered. We were one in a million, a love like no other. I knew at this rate, we would be together forever. There was nothing that could ruin this….
At least that’s what I thought, before the incident. When I first met you, it was love at first sight. I thought I was going to die, as I saw your wonderful figure. A figure likes no other, one that would stay in my mind forever.
I was nervous at first, but then I gained the courage and walked up to you. I started to talk to you about simple things, and I was thinking you weren’t listening. But thank the heavens you were, and you let a smile form on your face. My face had turned red from your smile, and you let out a giggle.
Eventually we started to hang out more together, as friends of course. We had gone to many places and had done many fun things together; these were the happiest days of my life. Eventually we had started to become more then friends, my love for you was growing like a fire becoming brighter and brighter.
Now we had started to go out on dates, you were starting to develop wonderful feelings for me. We would go to many restaurants and have wonderful nights together, always looking at your wonderful sparkling eyes and you’re wonderful darling smile. We were becoming closer and closer with each night and my heart started to flourish, I was so happy.
Now we were very close, boyfriend and girlfriend we are now. We started to hold hands and hug more often; the hugs were always warm and cozy. Every night I would stay up late just to be with you, we would kiss every minute that we got together. My heart started to pound as we were now the closest we could be, the wonderful warm of your body I could still remember.
Years have passed and we have grown a few years older, they were the best years of my life. We were the age where we could be married, I was excited. One night I presented you the ring, the ring to prove my love for you. You looked at me in shock which changed to tearfully happy, it made me smile. You ran up and embraced me, you were the happiest you could be.
We began to prepare for the upcoming wedding; I and you were very excited. It was the night before the wedding and we were heading for bed, you were ready for the big day. I smiled at her and you smiled back, you had then given me a kiss on the cheek. Eventually we laid down our heads on the soft pillows and looked at each other one last time before I shut my eyes and dozed off into the dreams. I was ready for the day, but then my life changed forever.
I had awoken from a scream that busted the silence of the calm night and I had sat up and looked to see if you were there, you were mysteriously gone. Suddenly I heard your cries for help and jumped from the bed, I ran to the source of the scream. I ran until I finally arrived, but I was too late.
Lying before me was your dead, stabbed to death body; the smell of blood filled the air. I looked up and saw the figure of a trench coat wearing man standing before me, holding a bloody knife. My eyes started to fill with tears, but my soul became angered with rage. The man tried to run, but I grabbed the pistol that was on top of my drawer and hit the man dead on in the head. He then bleeds to death in a matter of seconds.
I walked up to the body of my beloved and lifted her up, not caring whether the blood gets on me. Your body had become cold and your pupils had rolled to the back of your head. I couldn’t believe that you were gone. My life shattered and I started to yell in agony as my heart started to burn in pain.
I slowly put your body down and picked up the gun that was sitting right next to me, my tears washing down my eyes. I held the gun to my head and looked at your body one last time, I started to remember the times we had and all the love we shared. Before long I pulled the trigger and a sharp pain suddenly exploded in my head. I dropped the gun and fell to the ground slowly.
I lay there quietly, as my blood slowly poured onto the ground. This was the end, my life had ended right here. My vision had started to become blurry and my breath became short. I called your name one last time before finally; I closed my eyes and went into the deep sleep. I never opened my eyes again.
I then hoped one thing before I died; I hope to see you in heaven when I get there. Once I arrive there, we can be together forever. Nothing will tear us apart then, our love will never end.
The End
