At present many schools, colleges, and universities assess their students by means of end-of-year written examinations. These can be very stressful and many students fare worse in exams than in other forms of assessment. On the other hand, perhaps it is good training for later life when success depends on being able to deal with stress and perform well on big occasions.
What are your opinions?

This College graduate hates those major exams for life! XD Well, actually, let me list down my opinions regarding this matter. Exams have no bad purpose at all - it's just how the students feel about it, and how they deal with it. Their responsibility affects them on how they do with these exams. Of course, all the questions are guaranteed possible to answer, which is why the professors will never give questions that have no answers. Students will likely be doing brain surgery if they failed to study and failed to understand a specific concept of that certain lesson. No school will stand if there are no written examinations. It's basically a systematic way to test the students if they learned all their lessons before the youngsters take their long-awaited vacation. There's probably only a very small percentage of students worldwide who like and favor written exams, while the vast majority of them loathe these forms of assessment. No student is allowed to take their leave without the entire institution being given credit ---- " Hey, you sure you learned something from us?" " Yeah, sure, whatever, kthnxbai~" Though, I must say, you learn something from exams not in a literal way and not between the lines. We are left asking: " Why the hell do we have to take this shit?!".. There seem to be no specific answers, but on a different level - on the "everyday life level", we can find some clues. Life is a series of lessons we need, happening in perfect order. We are continually being presented with lessons - not just from school and from home - not just those written exams or being sued every year or why we end up in a broken love relationship. All those events that we are facing or have to face........all of them have a specific purpose. Everyone, especially if you're a student, is destined to face these written exams (sometimes practical exams) whether you like it or not, because it's a stepping stone to prepare yourself for something big that you might face when you grow older. I'm trying to do an analogy here, though it looks like I'm failing to do so.. Failure from exams hurt, and that's where we get "educated". So naturally, treat an exam as an "everyday life struggle". It's like a gentle signal that nudges our backs so we should learn how to handle it properly. Beware as these exams will strike back with a strong sledgehammer if they were ignored! (I meant, if you didn't study..) Treat an exam as an event that has the potential to transform us including in our way of thinking. Every event has a purpose, and it is surely destined to make your life better or miserable depending on how you handle it. (Am I still making sense??) So if you have an upcoming exam, don't ignore it, or you'll get smacked straight in your face! Go break a leg! =D

Stressful times, yes. After exams, free time. Fun, hard work earns nice rest, get it done and you're off.
