Should human cloning be banned ? Should reproductive human cloning always be prohibited? What about the cloning of animals for the purpose of feeding starving families all over the world?
I can't wait to hear this discussion~

To use cloning for something like recreating organs so there are no rejection issues, I think is a good idea. However, I have some concerns about the cloning of complete people. The cloning itself is a little unsettling, but I worry most about what end the cloning is to serve. A Boys from Brazil scenario doesn't seem very likely, or really that practical. But some bleeding heart nutjob attempting to clone a serial killer on death row because they think the guy was "framed," that does worry me a little.
Cloning of animals does help create more top producing animals, and I think that the use of science to improve the lives of those who live in such horrible situations is a good thing. I'll try not to get racial, but I find it frustrating to see a bunch of people who went to college on their parents' money flaunt their ignorance and try to make us live by the decrees of their ignorance, just because in their irrational mindset it's more holy. I recall one episode of Penn & Teller in which they found some California jack%^s who espoused the virtues of eating only raw foods, and their only arguement was that it was "natural." Recently, it was discovered that because cooked foods are easier to digest, early man was able to survive while eating less and was able to devote more of the nutrients to better quality grey matter. Reservations and caution are fine, to argue for oversight of one form or another is a valid point, but the lives of other people are more important than superstition.

I agree with boogie that cloning whole people would not be a good thing (there are more then enough of us already). But cloning organs from a person that could later be used as a transfusion (I would assume this would work out better then having to get someone else's say heart).
As for the food thing though I think is we cloned animals we (America) would just end up getting more food and the areas that currently need it (those that don't have much) would end up with the same amount. So in theory cloning animals for food would help to feed more of the world but reality we would just be feeding ourselves more

cloning would be the ultimate achievement wouldnt it people would have a way of escaping death though not really
I believe no cloning of any kind should ever be attempted we are not gods to create life by artificial means not that im saying its a bad things but there are things men and women (for feminists =P) were not meant to triffle with
and you know if cloning was ever succesful theyd only use it to fill theyre pockets with money and as such only "important" people if you can call them that would have access to such technology if they can waste money on such dumb things then they can use it to help people who really need to be saved

You with propber resource management, we really don't need cloning to feed the people of the world. If you think about it, Americans eat too damn much.
Before I go off topic, I don't believe anyone should play God. I know with proper management, that it could supply more meat and organs, for transplants. I'm afraid of using this process on humans. Being the panically animals we are, I'm sure there would be millions of people who would want to kill humans clones over certain fears. That, and we'll never stop hearing the debate that these soulless monsters are out to replace us and to be used to make armies, like Storm Troopers.
That and I keep thinking the scary thoughts of the movie The Sixth Day. Do we need to be childish in which we never let go of the dead? I know losing someone is the worse pain to ever have, but is it fair to restart their lives without their knowing? Is it ethical to increase our population by re-populating those who all ready lived?
