Name: Hell Demon
Progression:
Dark Beast $1,000
Fell Beast $1,500
Hell Demon $3,000
Pit Fiend $4,500
Archdevil $6,000
Lord of Destruction $10,000
(No idea about the price range of those until one is given based on the creature itself.)
Appearance and Abilities: Hell Demons are very large creatures, on par with Dragons as far as size is concerned. They measure twenty-five or more feet long from tip to tail, and often stand at twelve feet tall, with a twelve foot wingspan, and weigh about eight tons, give or take. They appear centaur-like, in that, they have a body that is like that of a four-legged beast, and where the head of the beast would normally be, a humanoid torso emerges. A Hell Demon's torso does not resemble any earthly creature, however, it does have a distinctly reptilian appearance. Its body is very bulky, covered in thick, armoured plates, powerful legs with large talons that easily support the creature's weight, and a long, powerful tail capable of smashing through stone.
The creature's torso is powerfully built, and covered in thick, mottled skin replete with scars provides adequate protection against weapons on par with steel armour. The creature's bulky arms end in long, thick, curved talons. Its face resembles the skull of a predator, with a long, tooth-filled snout, powerful jaws, indented, skeletal nostrils and eye sockets, and a thin layer of tightly-drawn skin over it. The eyes burn with a dark flame in lieu of actual eyes, though they are still subject to blinding effects, and dousing water on their "eyes" does not put them out. Two powerful wings bat-like emerge from the back of the Hell Demon's torso, and although powerful, they are not enough to carry the Hell Demon's ill-distributed bulk. However, they do allow it to glide and slow falls, and thick, chitinous plates on the back of the wings can shield the Hell Demon from harm at the expense of impeded or negated vision.
The Hell Demon's entire body is covered and surrounded by an aura of dark fire. This fire, although it gives off heat and burns things, can still sear the flesh of creatures resistant to fire. The energy that damages them is actually star energy, and although it is not as deadly as the fire, it is enough to surprise most fire-elementals. This aura gives the Hell Demon near-immunity to fire, but a vulnerability to ice. Any ice spell cast by an equal or higher-rank character upon a Hell Demon suppresses the flames, and harms the creature more than it would like to be harmed. The aura functions similarly underwater, although it manifests as smoke and darkness instead. The Hell Demon can suppress or manifest its own aura at will, unless hit by the aforementioned ice attack, in which it is disabled until three posts of battle from the Hell Demon has passed. Ice-torpor for a Hell Demon's fire aura does stack, therefore, continuous ice-attacks are lethal, while fiery assaults are useless. The Hell Demon's other fire-based attacks, however, are still effective.
Hell Demons can produce weaponry by manipulating hellfire to create actual, tangible weapons wreathed in searing flames. The weapon that is created can only be a melee weapon, and most Hell Demons prefer that. The weapon is real, in that, one can see the white-hot metal and whatnot it was "forged" from, and the flames that engulf it, so, it is possible to parry, clash, etc. with the weapon, albeit prolonged contact heats, damages, and otherwise makes holding a metal weapon touching a Hell Demon's weapon very painful. Wooden weapons are set ablaze, but weapons with wooden hafts (such as axes and spears) do not suffer from being turned to ash. Hell Demons prefer to create large swords or cruel spears, although more brutish ones create axes. The weapons are sized for the Hell Demon (obviously), and if a Hell Demon relinquishes or otherwise is deprived of its weapon, it dissipates harmlessly as the hellfire leaves its essence. It disarmed of its weapon, it can create a new one two posts later.
Hell Demons boast control over hellfire, a special flame that sears the soul as well as the flesh, hence, why it usually damages fire-resistant creatures. They are very strong, even for their already massive size, and are quite resilient. However, they are slow and clumsy, and although they have skill with their weapons, the beasts are simply too large for any finesse.
Personality: While not every Hell Demon is like what I describe here, enough of them are to make it a stereotype. Hell Demons are cruel, sadistic, honourable, short-tempered, and hold grudges for eternity. They take pleasure in battle, where they gleefully rend the flesh of their foes with their claws and weapons. Diplomacy bores them, and although they are quite intelligent and able to understand such concepts as philosophy, art, and the like, they care little for it, and consider it a waste of time. Hell Demons take their oaths and promises very seriously, and fulfill them without question. If a Hell Demon feels like it owes a debt to someone, it will unswervingly obey the creature until the debt is repaid. Hell Demons would much rather rule than serve, but, are extremely loyal to their superiors, and believe in death before dishonour. That being said, anyone who looks at a Hell Demon the wrong way earns its wrath, and due to its love of violence, unsuspecting people who commit an imagined slight against a Hell Demon often find themselves as bloodstains. If someone has insulted or dishonoured a Hell Demon grievously, the Hell Demon's thoughts are consumed by revenge. Suffering both physical and spiritual will soon ensue, and they will sacrifice anything for their vengeance.
History: Hell Demons obviously come from their namesake, however, not through their own wish. Hell Demons were once a warrior race of similar-looking, albeit not nearly as grotesque and horrific creatures, whose war-like society and brilliant tactics won them the ownership of many worlds. However, their pride got the better of them, and they were eventually struck down by a mighty Overlord. They were all butchered, save for nine. They were cursed to forever burn in agony in the fires of Hell, one for each layer. Their time spent there twisted and corrupted them, and imbued them with the power of hellfire. Once released from their torment by the Overlord's death, they broke free of their prison, and manifested in different worlds, no longer feeling a sense of kinship towards each other. Most wander aimlessly, wreaking havoc wherever they walk, but some have attempted to find a purpose making domains, or serving in them.
Skills: In spite of them being original skills, considering they are for a monster that others might be able to purchase, I am unsure what to price them at to make it fair.
Hellreaver-The Hell Demon takes its weapon, and slams it into the ground. Any enemies directly in front of it take heavy weapon, fire, and star damage, while creatures at a short distance may notice smoldering cracks chasing through the ground. These cracks blast with hellfire, dealing moderate fire and minour star damage.
Hellbreath-The Hell Demon takes a deep breath, and sends forth hellfire not only from its mouth, but its nostrils, and eyes as well. This wave of hellfire hits everything in a medium range from the front of the Hell Demon, at a width a couple feet wider than the Hell Demon itself, dealing heavy fire and minour star damage.
Pillar of the Damned-The Hell Demon chooses a spot within a moderate range to call upon a large pillar of hellfire (approximately 15 ft wide) down upon that spot. dealing heavy fire and moderate star damage. Creatures just outside of the range of a direct hit are buffeted by heat waves that deal medium fire damage.
Dark Fury-The Hell Demon, whether it has an aura active or not, flares brightly with hellfire. After a short moment of becoming a living inferno, the Hell Demon unleashes the power in a huge burst centering on the creature itself. This hits everything in a 360 degree radius, and often lays entire forests and cities to ruin. The range is roughly a fifty foot sphere, and it does extreme fire and heavy star damage. A Hell Demon that uses this attack cannot do so again for the rest of the fight, and is bereft of its aura until it rests.
