Zing!
A bullet ricocheted of of the rock. Paricci was pinned thanks to the hail of ion projectiles. "Crap, this is not what I was expecting." Zing! "Oh man, I've got to do something."
"My, aren't we in a pickle." Ignis' voice announced mockingly.
"Shut up! Okay, think." Zing! Another bullet nicked his hood. "Crap! Here goes nothing!" With that Paricci reached back into his rags and pulled out his three juggling balls. He threw the yellow one hard into the brush to his right. The stream of bullets followed it faithfully. With that he rolled left out of his cover and hurled the red one at the thief's left hand, knocking the gun into the air. In a stunning display of skill Jace paused, rolled, and caught the gun in his left hand, and would have resumed firing had the not green ball not hit him square in the nose.
Paricci took advantage of his stunned state and knocked both pistols out of the theif's hands with a mighty swing of his staff. The blow sent Jace sprawling on his stomach, and he had to roll to avoid a devastating downward smash.
Jace thanked his luck as he rolled onto one of his pistols and lying on his back took aim at his opponent. Paricci on the other hand was charging up Fire and was poised to release an incinerating blast. The standoff had begun.
Vyers clapped slowly and deliberately.
OOC: (I like the end of the fight. Think Mr. Pink and Mr. White from Reservoir Dogs.)

In vyers castle...
The demon that acted as Vyers double smirked arrogently at the theif. "Who wants to know? your obviously not an invited guest." He replied idlely, really what he was doing was buying time for the castle guards. He was sure that the Demon was the theif that they were after. Besides it wasn't like Master Vyers needed to be bothered with something so trivial as a theif. If the demon wanted to know his master's were abouts then he would have to beat it out of him.... and even then he may not tell him. The Guards themselves were a ways from here postion so the Nobles apprentice had much stalling ahead of him.
Back at the Blazing Core...
Vyers heard the jiggling and smirked and gave Jace a glance to make sure the demon researcher had heard the jiggling. Vyers then swiftly stepped away as the fight started, this was Jace's test. A test of skill and loyalty and Vyers observed it with a criticial eye, it was important to becareful when picking minions to serve you and the Beauty Danshaku was no different. As he watched he noted that both were skilled, but he was having his doubts that this particular intruder was the one targeting his rival, if so they were sorely out matched. The stand off between the two combatants was intense and admitingly was some of the most fun the Demon noble had enjoyed watching in a good while. He clapped an encouragement to the good show that was put on before him.

The demon was silent at first. Then he smirked devilishly, cracking his knuckles loudly. “Alright then. If that’s how it’s going to be, then I guess I’ll just have to throw you around a bit.” He got into a relaxed position, one hand in front, the other, level to his waist. A snowy white glow could be seen in the dark hue of sapphire in his eyes. A look of determination, even excitement clearly seen.

Jace looked up at the mage who was beginning to summon a massive firestorm. This was it. This was the climax of all of his hard work. He lifted himself from the ground and fired a blast dead on towards the mage. He was hoping that this would in fact hit before the mage was able to cast the spell which would undoubtedly injure him and possibly put him out of commission. Jace could not accept that. Not now, not after finally achieving his goal of finding new patronage!
Jace caught a glimpse at Vyers in order to see his disposition towards the entire situation. Interesting enough, it seemed as though he was enjoying this whole affair and was giving in to clapping and merriment. "Odd", Jace thought to himself. Jace whizzed back around; He needed to concentrate on the task at hand. But to his surprise--

... Paricci canceled the spell and sat down on the ground. "This is not how things were supposed to go at all." He thought. "I'm sorry. Listen you can go if you want I'm really not in the mood for all of this." He stood up and began to walk away. He crumpled up Demiel's letter and threw it behind him.
He began to search for the discarded juggling balls. He picked up the red one and the green one, but it took him a second to find the yellow one. When he pulled it out of the thicket the sand poured out of a bullet hole. He sniffled a bit. "Ugh, what am I going to tell Master Demiel?"
He put the balls away and began to leave, but turned to Jace. "Where are my manners?" he said, and while stifling back tears, he extended his hand to help Jace to his feet.

Vyers gave a clap, and smiled at the both of them. Vyer ventured behind the spellcaster and picked up Paricci's discarded letter. He then returnned back to stand between the to, he looked first to Jace. "Your preformance was excellent, Monsieur Jace. I think you'll do nicely in my palace as will your research." Vyers said pleased with Jace's devotion and his skills. Vyers then turnned his attention to the other young demon that seemed rather upset and even brought to tears. Vyers response was rather.. odd. He laughed, yet not mockingly, "Come now! Theirs no need for tears." He told the Spellcaster. "You fought well enough, though I don't think you are the one I was after..." Vyers stated contimplating the turn of evens. The Beauty Danshaku uncrumbled the letter and offered it back to the caster. "Is there some buisness you had with me?" Vyers asked him after a moment.
In Vyers Castle...
Vyers' apprentice saw the smirk and heard the cracking of the theif's knuckles, but was not intimidated. The Apprentice himself had learned much from his master and that included combat trainning. "My what bold words, I hope you are able to back them up." The apprentice said dully and arrogently. He had a right to be arrogent after all, he was the Apprentice of the Beauty Danshaku, Vyers! He sould be able to handle the palace on his own while the master was gone. All the same he would allow the theif to make the first move, it was only polite and Vyers had stressed politness in his teachings.

The demon smirked at this before taking a small step forward, before dashing in at the apprentice at high speed. He started moving in a zig-zag pattern in order to throw him off a bit. Then he jumped high into the air, before rocketing downward and aiming punch straight for the face. He may be a thief, but he definitely wasn't going to make this easy on any opponent.

Things had finally begun to go Jace's way. He was now secure in his funding and would be able to continue his studies in search for the truth behind the mysteries of the realms. And heck, with Vyers behind him, he felt as if he could do anything. This strong noble demon backing him would bring other advantages he imagined. Plus, this way, he might be able enjoy a brief respite living in the luxuries of the castle of the Beauty Baron.
Jace stood there in the heat of the Blazing Core watching Vyers speaking with his opponent. Jace cared not for the fate of this other demon, as he had received what he set out to get. Jace's mind began to wander to and fro stopping on the possibilities for travel for his future research. This was such a great day-- Ah, My Magnificent Life!

Paricci blinked his eye in a amazement. "Oh, yeah!" he had forgotten about feeling morose. "My master, Demiel, wishes to speak with you about a joint plan to unseat prince Laharl and bring the Netherworld under the rule of a strong but just ruler once more, and sincerely wishes for you support in doing so." He said this all very quickly and with a single breath. "If you are interested he has promised to make it well worth your while."
He turned and looked at Jace quizzically. He was obviously not a common thief. "You're a researcher right? How would you like to do me a favor? I am having some difficulty with this." He pointed to the collar around his neck.

Intruiged by this interesting artifact, Jace approached the jester. He had never quite seen anything like this really, so he moved in for a closer look. He examined the fine craftsmanship of this collar, and could tell right away that some magic was at work here. Jace scratched his head and pondered through his past studies trying to recall if he had ever come across anything quite like this. Coming up blank, Jace began to speak.
"Where did you acquire this artifact exactly? Are you quite certain as to exactly what it does or is used for?"
Jace recognized some of the runes that were cut into the metal workings of the collar, but he could not understand the purpose that they would serve being written into this neck bracing. Puzzled, Jace sat back and listened to the Red Skull's explanation...
