Chapter 8
“Xavier! Mia! Not hurt!!” Came the excited wyverns call, Wyrin springing from the bushs. “Saw fire and came fast as could!” He shifted from one massive foot to the other, nuzzling the two, then growling as he scented Kai. “What murderer doing here!? Why she not left to burn!?”
“Calm down Wyrin..she’s not a murderer…and if she is, I owe her my life. She saved me Wyrin.”
“Murderer save Xavier?” He cocked his head, poking Kai in the belly with his large maw, making her loose a breath of air.
“Yeah, whats your point?” She shrugged “And I’m not a murderer you overgrown salamander.”
“I Wyvern, not lizard.” He blinked, spreading his wings to show her.
Kai sighed.
“Look, regardless, We need to get out of here incase your Akamain saw that.”
Wyrin sniffed the air, cocking his head. “I smell strange things…running fast near here.”
“I smell them, they don’t smell evil..Still, be ready.” Xaiver readied himself.
“Lord Xavier!” Came a female voice from overhead, wing beats being heard. All looked up seeing a woman with blue wings and in armor. The silverfish armor covered her legs, and went around her birdlike talons. A small part of her belly was shown, blue feathers comeing up her sides. A breast plate covered her chest, looping around and covering her back as well, holes in them for her arms, and holes for her wings. The neck rose up in a color which looped around her neck, making a shield to prevent beheading. Her hair was long and blonde, falling to the small of her back. Her eyes were green as the trees she flew over. Holding a spear by her side she saluted to the prince, standing at attention, her right hand over her chest in a closed, rectangle like position over her heart. The amor had the royal crest on it, as well as her own, but it was behind the royal crest, her familys crest almost hidden. Her crest being a circle with a line down, connecting to the middle of an arrow top pointed up, with no base. Her armor was rather decorated.
“Anna! Your alive!” Xavier smiled widly. “Oh yeah, at ease.” Anna let her attention drop, accepting a hug from the man.
“I’m glad to see your alright…almost everyone’s dead.” Her spear found its way to her left hand, her right going to her left side. She was bleeding. “But they were lucky…most of the ones who survived wish they diddn’t. Me and a few of the task force survied unscathed.”
“So that’s who I smell.” Xavier looked out. “You can come out.”
At his command, a man and a woman jumped from the bushs. One was a monster, his hand sides being sharp, all the way up his arm, and two spikes rose high on his shoulders, coming up to his ears. His ears looked bitten off, flayed at the ends. Two pieces of armor went up his arms to his elbows, a little piece of what Mia thought to be bone sticking from the outside of his wrists. His dark blue eyes darted about the area. He had fur pressing tight to his skin, yellow-hued in color. A long strait, leopard like tail curling from behind him, ending with a blade hanging off it. His hands ended not in nails, but in claws. Burned into the flesh on his bicep was his clan marking. An odd long triangle design, the base being attatched to what looked like a shoulder. But the woman was very interesting one. She looked human enough, but from her back, two large brilliant white feathery wings sprouted. A bow rested in a quiver along with a multitude of arrows, the bow itself looking beautiful in its white and gold splendor. Her whiteish hair fell down to her waist, but was tied in a pony tail at her shoulders. Streaks of bright purple were seen in her hair. She wore a string neckless, what looked like fangs on it, four hanging from the string, two pointing to the left, the other two to the right. In one of the middle fangs, a circle was ingraved that showed her crest, which was a wing with lines coming from it. Her cloths were odd, white, as was everything else on her body, almost tight around her body, blue tinting here and there. Her legs had a robe near the front, kind of like a skirt, but it followed all the way down, tightening around her legs. White was definantly a theme with her. Both saluted Xavier, who told them to relax.
“It’s good to see you alright Lord Xavier.” The winged woman smiled. Bowing lightly to the prince.
“I’m not Lord Xavier anymore, Akamain took over.”
“We know.” The monster responded, near silently. “Most of the squad was wiped out, only the three of us are left.”
“I see.”
“Who’re these guys?” Mia asked, cocking her head. Kai knew only too well. Zinri looked to Kalia, shrugging.
“Their what’s left of my task force. A special team I designated for missions I alone, or the normal army can’t handle. This is Annabell Bluewing, the captain of the royal gaurds and my close friend and advisor.”
“The names Anna.” She nodded smiling
“The monster is Zekial Bladearm, he’s a strong warrior who was my fathers dear friend. Fast, powerful, and extreamly intelligent, he’s the second in command of this squad.” The monster nodded a greeting, quiet. He seemed to be older than the prince by a good deal. He also seemed to be crushed by the death of the king, sorrow in his eyes.
“Finally, we have Nina Brightwing, yes I know their last names are very similar. Nina here…well..”
“I owe the king and his family a great deal. They have saved my life, among other things.” She looked away, seeming to be hiding something.
“I’m Miatsu Tomani!” Mia grinned, offering her hand.
“This isn’t the time for joy.” Zekial growled, looking at her.
“Relax Zeke…Yes, this is sad..but we have to have some optomisim. It’s good to meet you Miatsu.”
“Just Mia, please. He’s kinda grumpy isn’t he?”
“He’s just sad..you’ll warm up to him.”
