You'll find these are a bit rougher. I've not had the time to recheck them.
Chapter 7
Meeting
When Mia opened her eyes, the first thing she saw was a girl’s face, her light green hair falling near her face. The entire right side of her vision was taken up by this girls face. Happiness and excitement replaced desperation and boredom in the girl’s bright blue eyes.
“Yay! Zinri! She’s alive!” The face bolted away, and Mias eyes followed, seeing the fairy fly to where a two tailed fox was cooking.
“Hm? Hey, g’morning.” He waved at her. The familer smell of cooking eggs comeing to her nose. “Like dead unborn bird babies?”
“Do I like…what?” She asked, her head still reeling from the blow.
“Eggs. Do ya like eggs?”
“Oh..yeah..” She nodded, the events suddenly coming back to her “Xavier!?”
“Relax..The prince is fine…My associate is taking care of him. ‘m afraid of leaving them alone for to long though.” A visable shudder ran up his back.
“Ok..where..am I? Or, more importantly, what are you? I’ve..never seen anything like you before.” She looked around…it was a heavily forested area, not many sun spots, but the ones that were there were strangly shaped. As far as she could see at least. She then looked at him.
“On Sindria! And not in heaven or hell!” The fairy fluttered to her giggling lightly.
“Your near Wyverns forest…this is a section the dragoons made to fly over. And I’m a Kitsune. We’re descended from the spirit foxes of lore.”
“We have spirit fox legends where I’m from too…What happened?” She asked, referring to the destruction of Dragoniss.
“Someone took over. I don’t know who it was, but whoever it was took over with authority.”
“Yeah. We go on a vacation ONE time! And the kingdom we go to gets blown strait to hell. Nice.” The fairy complained, sitting on Mias head. “But at least we’re ok..Right Zinny?” She asked, smiling.
“Yeah..and don’t call me Zinny…It’s Zinri and you know it.”
“Zinri…your name…sounds familer…like I’ve heard it somewhere…”
“Nah..I’m just your run-of-the-mill two tail.” He shrugged, putting his hands behind him, reaching into his pocket dimiension and retreving a straw hat and putting it on.
“Two tail? What’s that?”
“I’m a two hundread and fourty three years old which gives me two tails.”
“Oh…So who’s your ‘associte’ as you put it?”
Kai jumped down from the woods, her back facing Mia.
“Hey Zin, how’s our friend?”
“Kai!?” Mia shouted in surprise, backing up and tripping over a stump. “What..do you want?”
“This is my friend Kai. Sh-“
“She’s a murderer!”
“I am?” Kai blinked. “Oh! You mean the scent of blood on me back on the forest? Nah, I’d just eaten and a bandit attacked me, so I kicked his ass.” She grinned
“W-What do you eat?”
“Human flesh!” She growled evily, bearing her fangs. This earned a shriek of terror from the girl. Kai laughed “Ow..Easy now, my ears are sensitive..I was kidding. I eat animals.” Kai smiled. “Really.”
“But you’re a thief.” She said doubtfully.
“Not thief…Treasure hunter. I only steal from ruins, from people looong dead.”
“Cut the bull Kai, everyone knows you’re a thief.” Zinri chuckled.
“Aw fine. But I’m not a bandit..I don’t hurt anyone to get stuff.”
“So wheres Xavier?”
“He’s…fine.” She looked away for a moment. “Well, that’s a lie…he’s really banged up. But he’s not dead. Least not yet.”
“Help him then!”
“I’m fine you two.” The familer voice of Xavier came as he walked forewards, his torso bandaged, bloodstains leaking through the bandages.
“Xavier!”
“What’re you doing here Princy? I told you to stay down…”
“I never listen. Now look we ne-“
“YOU need to tell us who that was! What the hell happened!?” Kalia flew to the prince, eager to know what was going on.
“That was…Akamain.” Xavier mumbled, putting a hand over his wound. “At least. I think it was.”
“What do you mean you think?”
“He wielded the cursed sword…the Disskaruno, the devils fang.”
“No way.” Kalia whispered, landing on Mias shoulder to let the realization that the sword was being wielded sink in.
Zinri shook his head, looking down.
“How’d anyone get that sword?” Zinri asked, sighing. Kai had a slightly different reaction.
“What!? Someone got the Disskaruno before me!? Dammit!” She grumbled. “That was going to be my ultimate score before I retired.”
“Umm I sound dumb I’m sure…but what’s the Disskaruno?”
“The sword of ultimate evil…The devils fang, the creature slayer, the shredder of creation.” Xavier began to pace as he remembered all he knew about the cursed weapon. “The blade of demise. The Disskaruno was said to have been forged in the darkest corner of hell, made from the devils fangs and cooled with her own blood.”
“Her? Why do you think the devils a woman?” Mia demanded.
“Because women are the the root of all evil.” He shrugged. Zinri nodded.
“Think about it. All the art of the seven cardinal sins are female right?” Zinri grinned, raising his point. Before the response could come, Xavier picked up on it. The other two women knew this was the belief of Sindria, and while most females were angered by it, they accepted it.
“Not to mention, it’s always been written that both the powers, the rulers of heaven and hell are female. If you don’t like it you can change the story in your head.” Xavier sighed, getting back to the swords story. “As I was saying, the sword was cursed with all the power of hell, and sent to this world to slaughter as many lives as possible, and regardless of their lot in life, saint or sinner, take their souls to hell. Cubi tell me that the sword even sucks souls, never to be released. Also, the sword being wielded is said to signal the end of creation, that the devil herself may raise from the ground if the sword is pulled.”
“Yeah, and they say only one who’s heart is as black as the pits of hell can weild it. So all in all? We’re screwed.” Zinri finished
“Wait really?” Kai blinked. “Oh…well then I couldn’t get at it.”
“Yeah Kai, because your just so innocent right? What’re you gonna do after this, help some nuns by liberating them from their worldly possessions?” Zinri smirked at her.
“Who me? Naaah.”
“All I know is Akamain is wielding the sword, and he killed my father.” Mia was silent at this point, looking down.
“I’m…sorry Xavier…” She sighed. “Really.”
“Forget it…It’s the way things are.”
“Who’s Akamain?” Kalia asked.
“Akamain is…was going to be one of the royal gaurds. At least I think. He was training in the academy that I was brought up in, and he and I became close…I needed a friend, I was so berated by training and studying, so we became close. But soon I found out how he really was. He was eventually thrown out for killing his sparring partner, and I guess he took it pretty hard.” Xavier sighed. “They’d already taught him the hidden tunnels of the castle, and they thought he was going to make it. He knew everything. He was exiled, left to die by monsters..but he made it. I don’t know much else…”
Xavier then winged to the sky, spitting a ball of fire that exploded in mid-air, small bits of flame raining on the forest, amazingly nothing caught fire.
“What was that?” Mia asked Kai.
“An SOS flare for Dragoons, all blue bloods are taught how to do that. He’s taking a chance though, Akamain might not be done with us…”
As Xavier landed, a rustle came from the bushs, twigs snapping under draconic feet. The smokey scent of dragon fire came to the area, Xaviers group had a visitor.
