Well, this was 'quite the pretty pickle,' as Drew's mother would have said.
Ka Sel's broad tongue slipped past his jaws to run distastefully over the corners of his mouth. Drew herself stood next to him with her arm hanging limply at her side, and her normally cherished katana's tip dragging in the mud they stood in. All six feet present were absolutely soaked in the stuff, and every step they took seem to only produce more of it.
They'd wandered into swampland, and neither was entirely sure how. One moment Drew was sharing her endless monologues about the genius behind carbonated sodas, and the next they were here, unsure of north, south, east, or west, and entirely uncertain of their location on a map.
Drew eventually found the stomach to pull her feet out from the deep and began marching towards a small island of solid ground nearby, with obscene noises marking every step. Ka Sel was quick to follow, and soon the two were sitting uncomfortably close beneath a grizzled old tree.
Ka's jovial crimson eyes turned slyly to his companion after a very brief moment of peace. "Luv, I really do hate to bug you like this, but..."
Drew groaned, knowing what was coming.
"... do you have any fucking clue where you've landed us?"
The samurai shook her head wearily for a moment, and didn't answer. She pulled herself back to her feet instead, and scanned the immediate horizon for some familiar landmark. Finding none, she resorted to the simplest of survival strategies, and let loose a tortured cry for help.
"Hello, is anyone there?" she yelled out. There was a single echo, and then that too was lost in the endless field of mud.
Ka Sel immediately pounced on the opportunity for jest, and mimicked her with a second plea for aid in a loud, mocking falsetto. "Yes, someone save us please! We're poor defenseless women, and we've lost our clothes! Oh, it's so chilly out here! Our supple feminine bodies are shivering so sensually! Oh dear, who will rescue us? Who?"
Drew stood for a moment with her jaw dropped in horror. The conservative young lady could not form any words that could express what she was feeling. All that came out of her mouth was an insulted whimper. Ka Sel, on the other hand, was rather pleased with himself. "There," he said smugly. "That should bring them running."

Ahhh....
As he stretched, his back cracked with him. Manik had been sitting in this swamp meditating for quite a while now. He would have been able to say exactaly, but he didn't have his watch on him. So....yeah. Anyways, he didn't care. It was nice to get away for a while. Especialy to a place that was so peaceful and quiet....and sticky. Eww.
Suddenly, just before Manik achieved Nirvana, a voice rang out which startled him. He jumped up, and listened for any mroe calls. "Yes, someone save us please! We're poor defenseless women, and we've lost our clothes! Oh, it's so chilly out here! Our supple feminine bodies are shivering so sensually! Oh dear, who will rescue us? Who?", the voice sang back to him.
Manik sighed and started in the direction of the yelling. What? N-no!! Manik is no pervert!! He figured that he might as well help them so that they don't disturb his meditation any further. Although....heh heh.....

Quite unaware that they were being tracked, Drew resigned herself to mourning. "Exactly who is 'them', Ka? What sort of people do you think are going to answer to something that ridiculous? Either the incredibly stupid or the incredibly lecherous; neither of which is going to be a help to us," she hissed, with venom dripping from every word.
Ka Sel was hardly listening. His full attention was being given to maintaining the Cheshire grin stretched across his feline features. "Luv, the entire demon population is both incredibly stupid and incredibly lecherous..." He trailed off for a moment so that he could examine the reactions of his friend. "... You really shouldn't worry so much. It makes you look fat."
And thus, Drew was silenced.

Manik, walking toward the direction of the yelling, could now hear voices talking to each other in the distance. "Luv, the entire demon population is both incredibly stupid and incredibly lecherous..You really shouldn't worry so much. It makes you look fat." Hmm...that voice was most definitaly NOT a female. He jumped into one of the treeline, and jumped from tree to tree until he finally found his destination.
Aha. Just as he suspected. They were either common or thieves. How did he come to this conclusion? Simple. They said they were two females without clothes, and needed help. They were ONE female, and one...monster. And the female that WAS there did indeed have all her clothes on.
He jumped down to the ground behind them, and put on his leather gloves, ready for a fight if need be. "You two there! Were you the two calling for help?", he said in his gravely voice.

The demonic lion hardly twitched, and turned to face the newcomer with ease. "Oh, no we killed them." Ka Sel was eerily calm as he spoke. His ironic tone was enough to show that he wasn't being serious in his statement, but being unable to resist a good joke, he continued. "If you'd arrived a few seconds earlier, you might have saved them. Pity! Pity."
Drew had just about leapt out of her skin when the new person approached, and while she normally would have been prepared to fight as well, the mud on her feet nearly sent her slipping off this little hill and into the swamp waters. Her katana glided easily out of her hand, and in a glistening arc it flew through the air and into the deep with a resounding splash. Her hands instantly flew up to clutch her ears in despair as she realized fully what she'd done, and what she'd have to do to reclaim her sword. "Oh... God!"
Ka Sel kept his placid smile even as his friend began whining crazedly to the water ("Giffit-back! Giffit-back!") and crying out in frustration when it didn't obey her commands. The great beast even went so far as to sit calmly down, not at all sensitive to her plight. After a moment, his maned head jerked towards her, and a wink was offered to Manik. "... But we can strip her down if you'd like."

Manik closed his eyes slowly, and exhaled quickly. Just who was this arrogent idiot anyway? Putting theviery past this guy was a huge mistake. And that girl...was she a samurai? Pah, probably nothing more than a mere ronin. He had half a mind to rob them both...but first, he had a different plan in mind.
"Just what are you two trying to accomplish calling for help when you don't exactally need it? Let me guess..., he said, stopping in mid-sentence. He took a ominous step toward Ka Sel. "...you're both thieves? Is it my money you want?", he said, glaring at the strange beast.

Ka Sel's ruby eyes flicked to Manik's approaching step before returning calmly upward to his face. He maybe should have been frightened of the man, but for some reason he was even more relaxed upon seeing that his sarcasm was having an effect, even if it was just annoyance. "Money? Oh, goodness, no. We're simply lost, and were hoping that someone could guide us to the nearest town before the warslugs get us, or my fur gets too filthy. I mean, just look at it..."
This was perhaps his most sincere comment of the day, as he lifted his obsidian paw to show off the coating of dried mud on it. "Do you know what kinds of bacteria are probably festering in this? I shudder to think of what the little bastards are doing to my skin..."
After a sad moment of eying his dirty paw, he realized where he was and who he was talking to, and found the topic again. "No, we aren't wounded or anything, if that's what you were expecting when you heard us asking for help. But I'm sure if you wait a moment, my friend here will break her leg, and we truly will need you holding our hands back to civilization."
Drew didn't know that she was very likely about to fulfill Ka Sel's most recent prophecy as she paced the shore of the swamp. Her eyesight really was dreadful, and every now and then her bare foot would trail in the murky water and she'd pull back with a shudder. She let out a fragile sigh after a good minute of this pathetic ritual. She could just buy another katana back in town...
She nodded and turned on her fuzzy heel and began striding with profound conviction towards Ka Sel and his new 'friend'...
But if I buy a new katana, I won't have any money for soda.
A grinding warrior's howl could be heard as the small woman shot back to the shore at a shocking speed. Within only a brief second her body crouched and then sprang forward and out over the water, with her arms out behind her and her legs locked together in a pose reminiscent of a painted crane. This moment of beauty was quickly lost in a giant splash as the brown water rushed up to meet her. Devoured by muck, Drew was gone from sight entirely, with only a trail of bubbles on the surface marking where she'd disappeared to in the grime.

Manik's expression turned from sour to worried almost instantly as Drew was sucked down by what was apperantly quicksand. He knew there was no such thing, but if there were any exceptions in the world, this would be it. He rushed over to the brown and murky pond, and thrust his hand into the pond, feeling around for any sign of a hand of some sort to grab onto.
He looked back at Ka Sel with an angry look on his face. "Do you even care?! Come and help me!", he said angrily, as he fished around even further into the brown muck. All of a sudden, he realised. This was quicksand. On trying to pull his arm out, he found himself stuck fast to the goo. Realising that t would get him as well, he decided taht he might as well try to find Drew under this disgueting mess. He continued to fish around, hoping for anything to grab onto.

Ka Sel looked almost insulted at the request. He really did care that Drew was on the brink of death, he really did, but the thought of actually helping was enough to make him sneer. He opened his mouth to give a cutting reply, but no words came. He was forced to blink for moment with the realization that he'd met his sarcasm quota for the day. He was frustrated. He felt stupid. The source of his predicament was Manik, he thought.. and so now he had a reason not to jump into the river of slime after his only real friend in the world. He was pissed. Reason enough for a demon. He lay down where he sat and watched the pair struggle in the mud with a satisfied gaze. His head dropped onto his paws after a moment of blissful staring. The perks of being a bastard really were numerous...
Drew was hardly aware of her own situation, and was also blindly feeling for her target. Her taloned hand kept meeting with various sticks while her fingers kept brushing what she was certain was a human femur, but she was determined to get back what nature had taken, and wriggled deeper into the cocoon of mud around her. Her furry foot brushed back against Manik's hand flailing above her for a fresh instant, but she quickly withdrew it, mistaking it dully for some other small creature in the filth.
A precious bubble of air left her lungs as, finally, her hand found a katana hilt in the depths. Reunited at last, she attempted to turn herself around to head towards the surface, but couldn't. Her back was being crushed by the weight above her, and for a good few seconds, she couldn't figure out why. The realization dawned that this was most likely not a good idea, and panic set in like a dart to the brain. Her arms began clawing out in all directions without a goal while her legs struggled uselessly to turn her body over. Air was leaving her lungs too quickly as a cry of distress was given to the mud, and bubbles trickled upward towards freedom. Eventually she succeeded in turning herself, and extended both arms upward as far she could manage, now hoping for the help of that struggling creature in the filth she'd rejected seconds before. She simply could not move her body any more then this, and as darkness set in on all sides of her mind, a new idea came forth in her thoughts...
... I could really use a soda right now.

Manik tried desperately to find Drew's hand among the filth, but for the most part, he couldn't find anything that resembled a body part to grab on to. He loked back at Ka Sel in utter disgust. He would get his just punishments AFTER Drew was safely above the muck. Just as all hope seemed very lost, a pair of hands emerged from the mud. Drew's hands!! Manik grabbed on to them as hard as he possibly could, and PULLED. His muscles tensed as his brute force was put to the test against the strong-gripping ooze.
Finally, his true stregnth gave way, and pulled her out of the muck, sword and all. He set her down on flat land, and kneeled down next to her. "Are you alright? Can you talk?, he asked almost nervously. She would probably be alright, but he still wanted to make absolutly sure.
