Mr. Sinister here, Its time for the May MOTM contest
1.) You will be creating a festival/celebration. The end result should be something akin to a backdrop or a little more flavor to dress up a normal town.
Format will be like this:
First Impressions: Something that will introduce us to the festival but doesn't give everything away. It could be characters that are witnessing the festivities for the first time or even a story that sets the mood.
A Cause for Celebration: The background on what the festival/celebration is all about.
Festivities: What activities normally go on during the festival? What does the populace do during the festival?
Modifications: How does this festival modify the town's normal processes? Are the shops closed? Will shops need to change their prices? Are certain types of creatures more frequent as they are attracted to the festival?
2.) Festivals can be specific to any world or place if you so desire
3.) If a festival is linked to a specific world or region it must be clearly stated at the start of your entry post.
Deadline is April 30th
Good Luck To Everyone ;D

(I wanted to create something that could celebrate the coming of NiGHTS since there's a new game coming out. Yes, it does sound stupid to you, but when I saw that it is, of course a sequel, I was like 'OMG OMG OMG!!!' Okay, I'll just shut up now...)
(And oh, yeah, the holiday/festival will be held in Twin Seeds, which mysteriously sprang up in the Netherworld for some reason. However, the sole reason for Twin Seeds' appearance is to celebrate the festival.)
~Festival of Dreams~
First Impressions: Strangely, there is a festival going on somewhere in the Netherworld. Why did this just spring up all of a sudden? Who is sponsoring this? And what the heck is 'NiGHTS'? Well, who cares as long as there's a Roller Coaster!!
A Cause for Celebration: This celebrates the NiGHTS sequel that is coming in Fall 2007 (Unfortunately, that's as much info as I can get in terms of release date). There was a previous game called 'NiGHTS into Dreams...' which was very popular with players, which was due to demand for a sequel. Finally, official info has been stated that, in fact, there will be a sequel to the original NiGHTS.
Festivities: A parade will be going on in Twin Seeds, as confetti will be flying, floats and bands will go through the street, and fireworks will be shooting in the skies. What's more is that there will be a theme park somewhere in the city (It wasn't in the game, thought I'd make that up for some reason). It contains rides such as a Ferris Wheel, and attractions like a Fun House.
Modifications: Nothing will go unchanged in the Netherworld, since this is supposed to be happening so quick that everyone there didn't seem to expect it. However, in Twin Seeds, stores will change their merchandising to better celebrate the festival. There is also news of a strange world (Twin Seeds) appearing in the Netherworlds.

HURRAY celebrate!! Time for a festival, Perxy-style. =P
First Impressions: A very strange thing occurs in the month of May... speficially on the third week, centered in the small town of Acorsis, which is known for it's very tall, gothic-styled church like building. But during this week, one may look up and find what looks like flocks of birds- no, wait! Those are hundreds and thousands of Maos gathered for a celebration! The entire city is buzzing with excitement, both in the sky and on the ground. Welcome to the week-long celebration of Manekimaosu!
A Cause for Celebration: Manekimaosu is translated to 'Beckoning (or Welcoming) to the Maos'. Hundreds of Maos gather from all over the world to celebrate the holiday, which started thousands of years ago in the very town the festival is held. Originally the Maos were lured to this place so that young magic users could meet up and sign clauses up with the batcats, and to keep the local rodent population down. As more and more Maos began visting, the town soon found itself overflowing during the week they held the gatherings! Instead of letting such a golden oppurtunity (for money, obviously) go to waste, the town decided to turn it into a tourist attraction. The celebration reaches a climax on the Wednesday of the week, as the first Mao leader, Sasafras, created the Mao clause on that date, hundreds of years ago.
Festivities: Expect the gathering of tens of thousands of Maos in every nook and cranny set above 5 feet. The traditional meeting and 'adopting' process still goes on, but the highlight has to be the Wish For Fish competition! Going on the old, traditional Mao poem of 'I wish for a dish of tasty fish, quite noutrish and very delish,' this cooking competition is an all-out war. Demons compete to create the best fish-related dish (each recipe must have some fish in it, and everyone knows the more the better) in terms of appearance, taste, and creativity, presenting it to the current leader of the Mao and a group of official judges. If the smell of seafood turns you off, be sure to check out the craft show, but expect alot of things made to Mao scale! The 'I visited Acrosis and all I got was a Mao' shirt is a best seller. Check out the toy stores for stuffed versions of your favorite winged pests, and the Yreka Bakery for Mao-paw cookies. There's also a parade where you can either enter a float, or act as a perch for one of the many Maos as you walk the streets! The most beautiful demon, chosen at the pageant the first day of the festival, gets to serve as the perch for the leader. If you want to battle with beauty but aren't talented at it yourself, bring your own Mao for the Domestic Beauty challenge, or enter the KitKat or even the regular cat shows. Kitkats may also be entered in fights, the payouts being great, a favorite of drunk men with money to waste. However, the best part, according to all the kiddies (and kitties for that matter) is the rides. Sticking to traditional power (zombie power, mostly) they feature a very large carousel (be sure to ride one of the dragons or perhaps a manticore, but avoid the swan, that thing has a mind of it's own!) and a very large ferris wheel, but be warned that if you stop at the top, you will suddenly find yourself with a cab full of furries. Finally, if you'd like to be a little more enclosed and buzzed, stop by the pubs and bars, all of which sport some Manekimaosu drinking special. Bottoms up!
Modifications: Obviously, an influx of Maos should always be expected at Manekimaosu. The town itself goes under a transformation before the celebration, where shops begin pre-producing their Mao-themed goods, and the streets are tidied up (and given many extra trashcans) and decorated. The most common colors for the festival are black, red, and gold, so many streamers and banners are put up in this color scheme. The center church building, as it is the favorite place to roost during the event, is cleaned and opened, every single window. The carnival is assembled around the building, and the stands for crafts and other things are set up in the alleys. A velvet pillow on a stand near the church is prepared, as it is the perch for the leader of the Mao. Shops often get more expensive around the celebration to take advantage of the tourist's pockets, and places selling food and drink stock up. Inns bring out all the extra beds and make use of every room (be careful, during the event you may find a great rate for a room and find yourself stuffed in a closet) and even some local families set up for paying guests. Those cranky few who don't want to participate often take vacation.
So remember, if you've got some extra money and want to participate in a frenzy of excitement and whiskers, head to Acorsis, third week of May, for Manekimaosu!
(WHEW! x3 And all in one sitting. LOL if I can, I'd actually like to do this on that third week of May as a special event. Just asking ahead!)
