Cleaning House (The Return of Emily)

The head maid of Laharl's castle was an elegant, fairly well-chested vampire maiden known as Emily Rominov. With an ironic silver cross necklace on her chest, she wore a modest and graceful maid's attire as she hovered around with her bats to keep the place free of dust...

Though Laharl demanded that she keep the cobwebs intact.

He black hair wafted behind her as she played the floor cleaning game with the Prinnies, scooting them across the floor with brushes on their bellys so that they would at least have some fun in their servitude. Her skills as a cook were envied and highly sought after in the castle, one of the greatest rewards was to be the "Sous Prinny" for the day which aided her in cooking the nightly dinner.

Right now, however, she was keeping the floor as spotless as possible around the area by the front gate.

Emily sighed, getting sick of the same old meals. She sat on her flapping bats and tsked to herself. Prince Laharl would likely start to get fussy if she served Manticore chops again. Quite frankly, she was also starting to get bored.

"Oh me... what on earth am I going to do for dinner?"

In the distance, a soft tinging heralding him , Axel Rose approached. A joker card behind his right ear, his maroon eyes were focused on nothing but one of his coins, a commemorative coin from some stores 666 Netherworld Year extravaganza. The man's black hair rested on his back in a pony-tail, and under his black hat. His pale gray coat trailed just above the ground as he matched his step, his breath, and the coin flips. Ting, step, inhale. Ting, step, exhale. His left hand was in his black pants pocket, and he had no idea where he was going, or the building he was heading towards, or any demon with any sense (and no aspirin) would have turned tail and ran. However, Axel's mind was elsewhere.

Axel caught his coin, palming it as he put a gloved thumb tip in his mouth. Although Axel looked as deep in thought as a Sage that was questioning the meaning of life, in truth, Axel's thoughts were much more simple.
'I could really go for a piece of pie...'

"Eh?!"

Emily panicked and almost fell out of the sky, but her bats with red ribbons around their necks managed to catch her before anyone could look under her long skirt. Her shoes were small laced boots, so those didn't fall off, but the Prinnies around her started sweating bullets at seeing someone so easily enter through the front gates of Laharl's castle.

Adjusting her uniform, she folded her hands in front of her in a ladylike fashion and hovered in front of him.

"I beg your pardon, but it is very rude to enter someone's castle unannounced. Please introduce yourself... and mind the floor, I just washed it. I will be very cross if I have to clean it all over again..."

She was once one of the "brides" of a powerful vampire. She still had some pride left about her station despite being lowered to a humble maid. If this man was an intruder, she would see to his exit promptly...

He blinked, the lovely woman that stood...er, floated before him pulling him out of his own mind. He blinked, reaching down and taking his white shoes off. He didn't want to antagonize anyone, especially if they were pretty. He offered his cocky smile™, and held his hands up slightly.

"No harm done, see?" He said, his voice ringing out. " Name's Axel Rose, an' I didn't know this was your castle. I just kinda wandered here. But, if I'm not mistaken, isn't it courtesy to offer your name first?"

"Well, this isn't my castle, I just tend to its upkeep. And it is proper manners for the gentleman to introduce himself first when there are no common aquaintences."

Well, the man was cute, so he wouldn't boot him out the door. He seemed a little too... wild for her personal tastes. Twirling a bit of her black hair, she assessed the new arrival.

"But... since you did introduce yourself. I am Emily Romanov, caretaker of the Krichevscoy estate... currently under the rule of his son, Prince Laharl. His Highness has business elsewhere, so you will likely have to wait if you were looking for him."

"Aaaah... Miss Emily. Doesn't it bother you that he just walked in past our guards, dood?

Emily looked at the Prinny and sighed, a few of her bats sulking along with her.

"Well, I do not see any dead guards, either. Even if he was an intruder, he doesn't appear stupid enough to walk through the front door."

"That's true, dood! And we still need something for tonight's menu!"

Emily straightened her posture and adjusted her maid's cap. Looking over the gentleman's attire, she hovered around him in an appraising fashion to see how tough he looked.

"Never seen one like you around here before... perhaps I should test you to see how big of game you can take down. His Highness has been getting bored with the Manticore Chops I have been bringing home lately. Besides... if you are worth your meddle, you could teach me a thing or two."

Sniff, sniff.

He could smell them.

Zmut was a prinny. But an ordinary prinny he was not. He was GOD of prinnies, a master of funk and stealing, of mad skillz and skirt chasing, OF ASS KICKING AND TITLE STEALING! The top of the top, cream of the crop, master of disaster and the incarnation of awesome.

So...why was he in the middle of a netherworld, all alone and hel-less?

Funny story, that. Too bad you'll never get to hear it.

Zmut, having lost his kidna- loyal prinny servents, was now on the look out for some replacements. Oh sure, he could make replacements via mana creation, but what fun would that be? And he didn't want to waist his mana on prinnies of all things. Yeah, he knew it was sad, being prinny god and all, but Zmut knew the value of his kind. The dirt cost more then them. Except for Zmut that was.

He was worth a whole piece of mint gum. How cool was that?

Zmut, having sniffed out "potentials" for his minions, followed the sent to what appeared to be a castle....He wasn't that stupid, of course he knew it was Laharls Castle, Son to the last Overlord. Not that Zmut cared. Laharl's status just meant he was more likely to have some really good stuff that was worth stealing. Really, really good stuff. The kind of things you could sell and live the good life for the rest of your days. And demons lived for a reeeaaaalllllyyyyyyy long time.

Zmut, a prinny of the finiest black prinny skin and the owner of the manliest bat wings around, decided that he would raid this castle. But first, he had to disguise himself. Dawning a ball room mask and a phantom cloak, he headed into the castle.

5 seconds later.

"God damnit." Zmut, having decided to enter the castle via window, did not take into account the pudgyness that he (along with all other prinnies) possessed. To be blunt, he was stuck in the window. He wiggled and twisted in hopes of escaping, but his efforts were in vain.

Worst part, he tried to enter through the kitchen window. The refridgerator was right there next to him, just out of his reach.

"Damnit to hell."

Zmut-

Oh the wafting scent of Cockatrice soup... Zmut's pudgy form stuck in the window could see some traces of BBQ sauce on a cutting board further in the back, but in a crate marked "Do Not Touch", it appeared that there might be some booze... or something bottled. The huge cauldron was simmering with the divine soup with a crate saying "Merpoi".

Axel blinked, taking a quick glance over his shoulder, than looking to the Prinny.
"There were Guards? I saw a sleeping Gargoyle, but I just thought he liked to nap there." He said, honestly seeming like he had just accidentally walked through the front door.

"In any case, thanks for you complimenting me, but if you want me to bring you any kind of game, you're gonna need to give me some kind of preference." Axel said, crossing his arms across his chest, unable to stop himself from taking in her beauty. But, Axel felt it, just below the surface of this lovely woman lay a power he couldn't help but respect, even as it sent slight shivers up his spine in minor fear, and major interest. "Or a location. I'm not familiar with this area."

"How long have you been here?" Emily inquired, surprised that he didn't know that place.

Tapping one of her long fingers to her cheek, she pondered what game she should start with in order to test him. She could be cruel, but sensed an uneasiness in him.

"Well, I suggest taking out some of the Pumpkins in the forest nearby. Please remember to keep the heads intact, though. I also heard there are some baby dragon around that forest, but I had been leaving that area alone to prevent culling them too quickly. Dragons take a few years to mature. If you can handle bringing back an older adult, I'll see about getting you a seat at this evening's dinner. Even if you don't make it back in time with the dragon, having the meat on hand will ensure a good meal tomorrow."

She knew she could hold off Laharl one more day if she said she sent someone to get some more quality ingredients. She was lucky to get the spices she needed on Sacrifice Street, but with him not even using his allowance to buy good quality ingredients, she would rather pay the Prinnies with the knife skills to help her.
