Jack leaned back against the wall and was reading a magazine left on the floor when the three got into the castle. He paid little heed to the loud warrior or the exchange between him, Alexa, and the height deficient overlord. Then it became a matter of the blade, Jack flipped out and moved involuntarily at the sound of swords striking. The magazine went flying and landed on the floor.
The cleric grabbed his staff, ready to back up Alexa, but as soon as it started, the hostilities ended. Jack scratched his head, unsure if Laharl was grateful, annoyed, or just didn't give a damn. He stepped up and stood by Alexa, "It's like I said, demons live by different rules."

Even though Alexa's politeness was refreshing in a somehow strange way, this Pringles character was really starting to test Laharl's patience. This guy was just plain annoying, trying to INSIST that he was a vassal of Laharl. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but this guy was more annoying than MID-BOSS! And frankly, Laharl had enough of this attitude. He held a finger to Alexa. "Hold that thought." He then started advancing on Pringles.
He tramped in front of where Pringles was heading, and gingerly slapped the broken vase parts out of Pringles' hand, breaking the somewhat larger pieces into even smaller pieces. "Now wait just a goddamn minute! You're trying to tell ME that I'm not a real overlord?! If I'm not a real overlord, then you should have no problem chopping me to bits! And we all saw how THAT panned out for you!"
"And another thing you said that pisses me off! Although I know as well as anyone that Etna would have my head chopped off in a moment if it helped her out in the long run, she's probably...p-probably my best vassal to date!!" Wooooooo, that last part was REEEALY hard to spit out. Laharl was just glad that she wasn't around to hear that compliment. "And Flonne?! She's a damn Love Freak!! If you think that she would even think of killing me, then you must be completely insane!!"
Okay, it was apparent that Laharl had really let this guy get to him. Fast. As anger began to cloud his thoughts (as most demons do), he reached for his sword. He was just about to slice Pringles straight in half...and then a thought hit him. "Wait a minute...how do you, a demon that I don't even know, know so much about me?"

"Angels like her don't kill like we do. That much I'm aware of but your reaction is exactly what I was referring to Laharl." Pringles paused turning to face the young overlord.
"I'm actually older then Etna by quite a bit. I watched you grow up though I figured you wouldn't recognize me as I look and sound different then I did back then." the red eyed warrior announced crossing his arms as he locked his eyes with Laharls.
"I'll just assume you intend to bring that sword down on my head if I every tell Etna about that last remark...Of course I could tell her anyway, you did say I wasn't your vassal so I can do as I please" Pringles cleared his throat and smiled.
the red eyed warrior leaned down close to the prince so the others wouldn't hear and spoke one last time. "A word of advice about Flonne, she's an angel and unlike demons who want a piece of the world all she wants is world peace!"
Pringles stood up after delivering his little attack thanks to Laharl's weakness. It was something that just might allow him to escape the prince's wrath or at least shake Laharl up enough not to kill him.

"Who the heaven is this warrior!?!?!?" Alexa was thinking... "Does he actually think he can insult a being like this? He claims to be a vassal of Etna, who ever that is, but yet is defiant of her overlord. This place currently is much different my the Frozen River."
Jack had finally gotten off his butt and was now standing next to Alexa, for which she was great full for. Even though they hardly knew each other he was more familiar than the rest of this place.
The warrior whispered something in Laharl's ear. "Great now he is provoking a stronger being," was all Alexa could think. A question rose in Alexa mind; if Laharl attack the now unarmed warrior would she try to stop him? There was no way she could match him in combat let alone stop him from killing them both...

Listening closely to Pringles' little monolouge, Laharl felt a small chill go down his back. How in the world did he "watch Laharl grow up"? The only people who knew Laharl as a child was Etna, his old man, the prinnies, and his old man's vassals. Could this warrior be an old vassal of good ol' pops? Brrr. Whatever. Laharl was almost positive that this warrior was a worthless nobody, but now he had an ever-so-small doubt beginning to grow in his head.
And then it hit him like a train wreck. WORLD PEACE. Laharl cupped his hands over his ears and let out a yelp, as if in pain. When stuff like that came out of Flonne's mouth, it didn't really faze him...but any other time, it caused Laharl a pain that made his whole body ache. He opened his eyes back up in complete anger at the warrior, now sure that he knew Laharl's weaknesses. This really was the straw that broke the camel's back.
"That's it! You're nothing but a lowlife, and you think you can toy with ME?! GO TO HELL!!"
Laharl quickly unsheathed his Cosmic Blade, and ran straight toward Pringles. Before getting too close, however, he lept into the air, his fist glowing with a magical fire. This attack had always been a personal favorate of Laharl's, and it was going to be enjoyable watching this scum die by it.
"HERE I COME!!"
Laharl divebombed straight into the ground below him, and the magical fire in his hand ignited. Violently. A pillar of demonic fire exploded from beneith Laharl, enveloping anything remotely close to him in a deadly flame. This was Laharl's BLAZING KNUCKLE attack.

Pringles wasn't scared. No such things as death didn't phase him and honestly the only way out would be to run or survive the attack. Laharl had given more then enough warning for a clear dodge but that wouldn't do.
No not for Pringles. The red eyed warrior was the ultimate badass sinner in his mind. he had never become human again despite two thousand years of toil no prinny was as bad as him and now standing before the the great Laharl he had become a savior of the beaked sinner.
A hero, a dark hero to be sure but a hero none the less and heroes do not run they fight.
Pringles knew the temperamental overlord intended for him to die but still even if he lived just long enough to show Laharl that he was free he would take the attack.
breathing in a sigh Pringles braced himself as best he could //They're counting on me, I'm not afraid// he thought as he reached for the overlords wrist hoping at least to prove that he would not be silent.

Laharl's speed amazed Alexa. Though he was not moving as fast as she just had it was obvious he was slowing himself down to give the warrior a chance. "Wait... Laharl's giving him a chance??? That is something I would do not a typical overlord."
It was in Alexa's code to protect the weak, but at the same time the warrior had attack Laharl first and thus had this coming. Alexa decided that if the warrior survived this attack she would make sure Laharl did not kill him, but the warrior had to survive long enough for that to happen...

Pringles laughed and let of a frazzled cough as the flames died away. his body was wrecked and chard but his eyes were still strong enough to lock on Laharl's blurring form.
"See power isn't everything. I'm still standing because you attacked without understanding or intent. I can't, I won't watch you fail this badly even if I have to endure this pain a million times over. Not because you're the king's son but because I'm aware that you have the potential to surpass him." Pringles announced his voice a raspy shadow of itself.
His body ached and he knew the only reason he was alive was because Laharl had used his burning knuckle. Because Pringles had been lit on fire every time someone got mad and he was in arms reach.
//it's getting cold dood// the red eyed warrior thought refusing to fall to his knees despite everything his body demanded.

Laharl let his whole (temporary) rage blow that specific part of the entrence hall straight to hell. The walls and floor were completely black from the scorching fire...and it felt GREAT. It had been a while since Laharl had really gotten angry, and it felt good to remember what it felt like when you mercilessly burned someone to a dead crisp.
"AAAAHAHAHAHAHA!! NOW, WEAKLING, DO YOU FEAR M-..."
Laharl stopped his evil laughter (which he'd been practicing for weeks) and looked at the charred warrior and listened carefully what he had to say. It was as he said...he seemed to know Laharl like the back of his crispy hand. But, dammit, that was impossible!! Laharl had never even MET this idiot! There was absolutely NO WAY that he knew Laharl before becoming an Overlord. Unless...
"Well well well...you survived, I see. I'm honestly impressed at your willpower, seeing as you're a low-rate demon and all. Not many survive me when they make me angry.", Laharl spoke to Pringles. He then snapped his attention to Jack, the cleric. He pointed directly at him. "You. Cleric. Heal him.", Laharl demanded, pointing back to the smoked warrior. "You're not one of my vassals, but I guess I could pay you a bit for doing this favor."
He began to walk away, and then stopped. "Warrior. When you're healed, come to my throne room. I have questions I want to ask you." And with that remark, he opened the door from which he came and exited the room.

Jack hacked and wheezed when the smoke cleared from Laharl's flame grill fantastic attack. Still, it was most impressive that this warrior was still able to stand after taking the brunt of Laharl's wrath. The way that he kept running his mouth was less than impressive. While he missed part of the conversation, it seemed that the warrior had some dirt on Laharl, hence the kid overlord flipping out.
Then came the command to heal the foolish warrior, and the offer for compensation. Jack's eyes lit up, as reward for little effort often did. The cleric approached the warrior and held high his staff, "Mega Heal!"
A brilliant light radiated as it enveloped the warrior and restored the warrior somewhat. Unsatisfied that it was sufficient, Jack gave it a couple more goes, then nodded in approval of his abilities. He advised, "Don't get in too over your head, I can patch you up as much as he needs me to. Pain still hurts though and no amount of healing can cure death."
