It was once Maedera's old haunt... now it was Emily's castle. All the cobwebs had been cleaned, all the standing armor's polished, and the furnature refinished.
Walking down the steps, she took a wick to the torches to bring some light into the castle. Despite her black gown, she was actually a cheerful sight with her wings draped as another layer of her gown. She had laid a feast out fit for a king, though she knew that some of the zombies would have their fill. Hence, there was cloth under the chairs to more easily pick up the scraps.
Emily rang a bell, signalling dinner was ready. Tonight on the menu was roast cockatrice with a side of mashed potatoes and dragon gravy. Emily had her own bottle of chicken blood to tide her over for the evening.
Plus... she also hoped the wafting smell of real food in this icy domain would attract the attention of travelers... and competition.

Selph wandered the icy area of Jotunheim, the wind blowing her hair to and fro, and making little progress per ten minutes. How she came to this area was even beyond her knowing. Maybe she was crazy to try such a feat.
She trudged through the ice, wary of monsters that could come out of nowhere and attack. There weren't any at the moment. However, she had other concerns besides monsters at the moment. Her suppies where starting to run thin.
Suddenly, Selph picked up what could smell like... food!? It can't be... unless someone had a meal set up somewhere nearby, but the odds of that were sky-high. She noticed a castle off in the distance, a possible sourse of that smell. She headed in the direction of the castle.

Humming an old tune from her days as a simple girl, she closed a couple of the windows she left open. The drafts in the castle were a welcome affair to her as she liked the wind in her hair and the feel of wind... as well as to further waft the scent of the feast. As she was drawing the curtains on one of the castle windows, she noticed a lone knight walking through the snow.
Competition, perhaps? Or a traveler lost in the storm? Either way, it was a new guest to entertain, and her spirits almost picked up immediately.
"Ahhh! Good! A guest! I knew I could count on this castle to be a good place for a party!" she giggled to herself.
Closing the window, she tapped her feet down all the way to the bottom entrance where the girl would be entering. The banquet hall was ready... after all, even if she was an opponent, it was proper manners to fight in a civilized way, and seeing that she seemed knightly, would prefer it that way anyway.
Today was a good day!

Selph trudged on through the way to the castle. She was somewhat surprised that it would be so far off on the way to a castle... and that made things a tad more difficult. Still, she tried to persevere.
The winds were starting to blow surprisingly hard, and it was getting more and more difficult just to move on. However, she couldn't turn back now; the castle was starting to come within walking distance.
If she could just make it to the door...

Seeing the knight in the winds made her worry a bit... she had to be awfully chilly in that armor. The drawbridge was already down... well, it stayed down, considering the cranks were frozen this time of year. She slowly opened the huge front door (she was vampire, after all, which made her stronger than a human).
He hadn't realized how strong the winter wind was today and winced slightly, motioning her hand to the knight.
"Come in! You must be freezing! If you could kick the snow off your boots before entering, however, I would appreciate it. The carpet is quite old."

(Actually, Selph doesn't wear armor, just to let you know. Note my signature.)
"Thanks." Selph nodded a bit. She shook one foot at a time to relieve it of snow. Then she entered past the woman who had the door open.
As she entered, she didn't feel so cold. Taking this time to look around, she noticed that it was an old place, but it didn't seem to show any sign of age; no cobwebs, no dust.. nothing. Someone must of worked to keep the place looking like this.

((Considering what the Knights in Disgaea wear, you can't really call that armor either .)) "Welcome! You are just in time for supper! My goodness, you must be freezing!" she offered. "I am Emily Romanov, keeper of this castle!"She bowed respectfully to her guest and smiled. At last! A guest to entertain! She silently wondered if she would have to bring Aramis his dinner again... the poor child worked himself silly sometimes. "Come in! I have no vassals to call my own, so I'll take your cape if you like. My friend downstairs is likely working on his projects... he may be late to dinner. Please! Make yourself at home! I am always interested in meeting new friends!"The way to the banquet room had a modest red carpet and the feast was set out which could feed several, but no plates but two were set. There was a tray behind the large table which had more plates and silverware, however, so there could be much more room if needed.

"Yes, thank you." Selph took off the cloak she wore for the trip, which provided some protection from the cold, but hardly any if there were harsh winds blowing. She handed it over to Emily. "I guess I should introduce myself, too. My name is Selph."
After handing the cloak, she followed the red carpet over to the dining area. She didn't know that 'dinner' would turn out to be a feast, so this came as a surprise.

Hanging up her cloak at the side of the door, she smiled sweetly and walked over to the tray with plates and silverware.
"Sometimes my dear friend downstairs brings his creations to dinner, so I'm never sure if he is going to attend. He likes working wherever he pleases, and often lets the zombies eat the leftovers. Creations or not, though, they are still my friends."
Laying the plate and the silverware before her at the place to her other side, that warm smile of hers never left her face. She was genuinely happy to serve guests.
"Well, Miss Selph. It is a pleasure to make your aquaintance! What brings you to Jotenhiem? You seem like a lady of adventure!"

Selph took a seat where the plate and silverware were placed. "Of course I am. I'm somewhat of a treasure hunter, but I haven't been too successful recently." She was embarrassed even to say that.
"I thought that I would find some leftover treasure from here. But I never expected this place to still have some people living here."
In fact, she was in both surprise and awe. Even at the mention of zombies...
